my soa is awkward in that mine and OH income can fluctuate, do you think i should just redo soa based on the minimum we would bring home (anything extra can either go into emergency fund or off debts??)

Yeah I think thats a really good idea, if you can make the incomings/outgoings balance on your minimum then any extra will be a bonus and can be thrown at your debt :D

That's a really good idea. Also, you might like to check out a fairly clever piece of budgeting software called You Need a Budget (http://youneedabudget.com). It works on the concept that you save up a month's budget and then live from the current month's wage (not the one coming at the end of the month). This means that you'll always know what you've got to spend as you've already received the pay. That said, saving a month's wage can be tough and I'm not promoting it as the solution to all life's financial concerns, but it does get good reviews from people with irregular incomes.

Ended up going out last night and it was very MSE. We were invited to go dog racing, not usually my thing but with a free entry pass it seemed better than sitting at home on my own again. So we got in for free and got a free drink so all I spent was around £3 on some chips and a drink for my DD.

I am not really in to the whole gambling thing so didn't place any bets, my DD loved watching the dogs and wanted number 4 (her age) to win every time lol

Got home quite late so managed a lay in this morning too which was nice and I feel almost perky now.

We are off to the library today, my DD loves reading so I thought I would join her up and encourage her reading and of course its free so another MSE activity.

Need to crack on with my assignment today for my degree as I have let it slip the last few weeks and I really can't cope with falling behind.

Must do some housework too as the place is looking a little messy at the moment :o
