apparantly to get the registrar out of the office on a saturday is £495 here   not sure what we'll do about that after all! the room hire is included in our package but the man that showed us around did say it was £200 to decorate it so i'll ask about doing it myself, if they say no or try to put other charges then we'll just go to the registry office and just have the reception there i think.
£495?! Bloodyhell that's steep.
It's £280 here for a Friday (day we have picked) or £340 for a Saturday.
If it's the same price for the Holiday Inn package for both the Friday and Saturday, we might go for the Saturday to get married instead. OH said it will be better for most guests as they won't need a day off work and the people who are coming in the evening won't be rushing to get home and get ready.
Decisions, decisions! :cool:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
emlou - when we spoke to Debbie she told us it was about £25 per table and that includes balloons, candles, table sprinkles, menus and name cards. If you wanted flowers then it would be an additional £25
yes the fareham registrar is soo exp! we're having ours on a Sunday and its costing about the same! Makes u want to have it on a weekday where its only about £40 i think.0 -
We're looking at our nearest Holiday Inn too!!
They're offering the £1000 wedding there too, slightly less numbers though & not on Saturdays (except Jan & Feb) which we unfortunately need as we have teachers & kids attending.
Got a meeting on Monday to have a look round!

Hi ya
Just a quick update. Wedding went almost perfectly. Weather held off for the photos. Food was great. We went for a lasagne/veggie lasagne with salad, chips and coleslaw buffet for the wedding breakfast and the lasagne was one of the nicest I have ever tasted.
Couple of niggles about the venue:
They forgot to serve the top table with bubbly for the speeches - so we had nothing to toast ourselves with.
Make sure that (if you go with the Holiday Inn) when you pay the 'final invoice' get them to charge you for the bare minimum number of people you think will turn up. I ended up paying £100 more for food than I though I would have to because when I confirmed the final numbers the week before I was told that I couldn't have a refund on those people - but she did let everyone have a bread roll as well as their meal (expensive bread rolls!).
We were also not given a refund of the corkage for the two bottles of bubbly that were left over unopened after the speeches.
All in all though - it was a wonderful day and I would recommend the venue to anyone.£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -
thanks for coming back and letting us know, i've been wondering how you got on! when you say get them to charge you for the minimum numbers do you mean that for the hot fork buffet or the evening sandwich buffet?
glad you had a wonderful day! do you have any piccies?Mummy to

when i said minimum numbers - i mean if there are a few people you arent sure about whether they will turn up (and if it takes you over your minimum number) dont get them included as part of the final invoice - ask if you can add them on afterwards.
our problem occured because we paid for an extra four adults - three of whom dropped out about a week before. we also had 20 children coming to the wedding and i wasnt sure how many were under three (as they were free) we agreed that she would charge me for 13 children, leaving 7 free ones. it turned out there were 11 under threes. when i spoke to her about the numbers to finalise them about a week before the wedding - i was under the impression that i would get a refund for them - but that was not possible - so we negotiated and the guests got bread rolls (which worked out at £2 per person for a roll )
With regards to the corkage and the bubbly issue - I wasnt given a £15 refund for the two bottles that weren't opened.
those were my only real grumbles though
piccies to follow hopefully in the next week or so£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -
 £2 is very dear for a a bread roll but at least you managed to get something back for your money if they wouldnt give it back to you at all
and i suppose £15 is quite small in the grand scheme of things, still annoying though. looking forward to the piccies!

hope u had a fab wedding and honeymoon!
unfortunately, I have decided not to go ahead on my booking as the max numbers were 100, and there's a possibility I might have more than that!0
