Its for a AO role in a jobcentre. I have heard it can take a while for people to get a placement which i am aware of. They told me they are trying to speed up the process. I did get my success letter very fast though!! Haha. I have had such rubbish luck and have not even been able to get temp work for the last 6 months, so even though i am still asking about temp work, i am not confident about getting any as being unemployed for over half a year doesnt look too good does it!? I have been caring for my mum in that time (she is very ill) so not as if i have been sitting round watching Jeremy Kyle, but i cannot mention that on a cv can i!!

I was a hairdresser for 13 years before I joined the department..

The reason for all the delays is the register dictates how many staff an office should have and because most offices have doubled the number on their register (mine has tripled) they need the staff. The problem then becomes there isn't enough desks for everyone to sit at so having more staff still doesn't solve the problem:rolleyes:

I used to have a team of 7 we are now a team of 15 but still only have 7 desks:confused:
Try doing desks plans and diaries even my basic maths struggles.:D

I did get a waiting list letter end of last year then they contacted me in April can you start next week? (no I had a job to resign from) so started 5 weeks latter I am FCO taking new claims in a call centre but being trained to deal with benefit enquires (ie where is my money) to take some of the pressure off benefit delivery centres.

How much care are you giving your Mum could you claim carers allowance?

Haha, i actually though this last time i was in the jobcentre....i was sitting there with my success letter gripped in my hand, thinking....if i work in this one...WHERE am i going to sit?!!! There is no room!

It did seem that they would need to order a few new desks and maybe set up a temporary tent outside to accommodate me! :rotfl:

Well basically she needs quite a lot of care. At the moment i do not provide that much money being on benefits (i am hoping to with this job, when i finally get it) but i have dedicated a lot of time, helping her generally/shopping/feeding her etc. Just as i dont have a job i can help out more, otherwise it is split between my aunties and me. She has just divorced my dad so he doesnt help out.

I had a success letter with no mention of waiting on it. I just hoped that this might suggest i would get a job slightly faster? God, i hope anyway!

Do you enjoy your job btw? Was it worth the wait?

Not a simple case of ordering new desks, health and safety states certain amount of space between desks, 2 exit points from the desk in case someone decides to jump the desk to get to you.
    (very few incidents)
Most offices are now opening till 8pm so staff come in late then work till late.

Do I enjoy my job? its has its ups and its downs its better than my last job and i hope not as good as my next. It is however a good way for people like you and me with patchy CV's to get a job on merit and build a more solid CV or find you love it and have a career path like busy mum has had.

The claim has been closed so there is no decision to appeal against. Once the claim has been re opened if then refused backdating then there will be a decision to appeal against.
The decision to close the claim is an appealable one.

Thank you for that :) I will look into it tomorrow. I didn't even realise. I suppose because its my own mother i feel obliged to help and forgot it takes up so much of my time (not that i mind of course)

Glad your job is okay. I hope your next one is even better haha!

Busy mom- i was joking about the room in the office, i know there would be more to it then just ordering a desk!!! Just thought it was funny thinking of them trying to negotiate new desk space for me in such a confined space. Gosh, i hope no one lunges at me!!!!! Scary thought!!!

It is still a process not a decision. The quickest answer is to do a rapid apply for the backdating, put in a complaint and then see what happens.
It may take up to 28 days for appeal and in the mean time claim remains dormant. With a new claim some benefit will be paid.

Both can be done at the same time.
