JSA problems...annoyed!!

Urgh, basically i am annoyed. I had a job interview on the day of my signing on and i phoned up and told them i probably would miss it as my interview went on longer than i expected (dwp assessment day to be precise). The woman said that would be fine and not too worry. She said she would get someone to ring me back the next week with a new appointment.
The next week i got no phone call so phoned them up myself, only to be told that they would again get someone to ring me back and arrange it then. So i waited again....no phone calls, getting on towards my next signing in day and i was starting to worry. I had received nothing in the post about not signing on so i did not know if they had just let me miss that appointment for the interview. I tried to phone back yet again and the woman said i should just come in on my usual day and they would sort it then.
So off i went spending 7 quid to get to the jobcentre on my usual day only to be told that my benefits had been cut due to my non-attendance the last time!! She said she could do nothing and basically told me to get lost. I explained my situation and how i rang up constantly to re-arrange a new date but they had never got back to me, but she was having none of it. I know they have to work to certain criteria and rules but i missed my appointment for a job interview, which is what the money is for in the first place! I had my interview conformation email and a success letter and still she would not try and even help me or give me advice. The jobcentre didn't even look busy at this time!
It is all so annoying, will i have to apply all over again? Should i complain? I feel really put out as i have been broke for the last two weeks. Oddly enough the interview i went to and missed my appointment was for a job working in a job centre and i was successful...just waiting for a start date, so have to be on jsa till then. It really has put me off working there but i am desperate for a job. I hope i do a better job than some of them.

If your claim has been closed you will need to make a new claim, but put in a backdating request.
have you the name of the person you spoke to?0 -
No, not the people i spoke to on the phone. Only the woman in the jobcentre who turned me away. Its so frustrating...i feel like im being punished for getting an interview and actually going!! There are so many people who just lie about looking for jobs, its the people who actually do want to work that get punished! I have no money to live on and am not even sure if they will even give me jsa now as i do not need to look for work anymore."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0

I know it's frustrating, what should happen is if you can't make your signing on day you are booked for the next day, you then provide proof of what interview you attended and you sign a day late.
You will need to make a rapid reclaim and apply for backdating and expalin why.
Till you do start work you still need to be looking for work even if its temp work in case you find a better job:rolleyes:

Ask for the decision to be reconsidered. Failing that, appeal the decision: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/gl24dwp.pdf0

The claim has been closed so there is no decision to appeal against. Once the claim has been re opened if then refused backdating then there will be a decision to appeal against.0 -
Thanks for the help. I shall have to apply and hope i can get the money i missed out on. I thought they would just book another appointment when i rang them about the interview but they insisted someone ring me back! Can't believe all the trouble one interview has caused! Haha.
I doubt i wil find a better job. My general work experience is lacking apart from a few temp admin assistant roles i have done since uni. I was thrilled to get this job, didnt think i would! I suppose i shall have to say im looking for work. Even if i know i dont stand a chance of getting anything better!
Busy mum- do you work for the jobcentre? What is it like? I am so nervous! I read a comment from a woman just a second ago on another thread who says it was so bad she had to be off with stress related illness! eek!"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

Yes i work for jobcentre have done for coming up to 9 years. Started as en AO then applied and eventually succesful in getting EO after 2 years, Spent 6 years advising and now a team leader or CETL for an adviser team and currently acting up to HEO.
To be honest I do enjoy my job yes it's very stressful but I cope well with stress and work better when under pressure. The job isn't rewarding as such but you can get great satisfaction from either helping someone into work or stopping beneift to some of the scroungers that are out there.
This is the hardest time in my lenght of employment with the department. We have gone through major changes and struggling under the current climate.
There is a huge amount for you to learn but you will be fine and I wish you good luck:beer:0 -

Its for a AO role in a jobcentre. I have heard it can take a while for people to get a placement which i am aware of. They told me they are trying to speed up the process. I did get my success letter very fast though!! Haha. I have had such rubbish luck and have not even been able to get temp work for the last 6 months, so even though i am still asking about temp work, i am not confident about getting any as being unemployed for over half a year doesn't look too good does it!? I have been caring for my mum in that time (she is very ill) so not as if i have been sitting round watching Jeremy Kyle, but i cannot mention that on a cv can i!!
Did you get a waiting list letter btw?
Montyrebel- even though i have a success letter for the job, i have to go through crb and reference checks first before i can be offered a position for sure. These can tend to take a while and until then, i need cash to live on!!!"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0
