  • Well, I am in your situation, renting with hubby and 2 kids! If my tenancy is not renewed by the landlord next Feb, I will move to another rented property.

I have no intention of wasting my deposit on a falling asset, my children are only 4 and 1, and they will not even remember moving house, but they will thank me when they become young adults and I have a bit of money to give them to help them out in life becuase I didn't waste it during a massive housing bubble, buying too early.

You are in a great position, you have no house to sell and a deposit. You are nearly at the end of the game............. get yourself another 1 year tenancy agreement,!!!

oh my goodness- so much to repsond to- since starting this thread i took ill and am only back online as of now- so am gonna look through and reply.

Anyway, our landlady called on wed night and wants us to move out in four weeks (end of contract)- the estate agent she is going with told her it would be best that the house was empty and dressed so as to con, sorry, impress any potential buyers lol
Wish she had told me that was her plans sooner as we have to move avec new baby!!

Anyway, we have sort of put together a plan- we are going to rent (currently manically looking ) and going to set about finding our home in the next six months- unfortunatley even if we found it tomorrow, it will take the guts of two months to sort out paper work etc.

It is annoying, we were going to start to look now anyhow and wanted to leave this house and move within the next six months- so have to move somewhere else is a pain- but on the positive, the places we are looking at are a lot less in rent and we can make a more informed decision now we dont have to buy so quickly:)
Of to read the rest of the thread- hope there havent been any arguements :)

Thanks for suggestions, when i start to look at purchasing will resurrect this thread to no doubt ask your advice again :)

oh dear hope u feeling better i also sick yuk!! not swine flu luckily but tummy bug
love you lots like jelly tots :o
  • As you said you have a little boy now, I would strongly recommend you try to buy in an area with good schools, think ahead and you may not need to move again for a good few years. Personally I think it's worth a smaller property in the right location than a larger one in the wrong location for schools & later on .... taxi driver for teenagers;)
  • no- wasnt swine flu lol

think we have found our new scuzzy but cheap rental...its not buckingham palace but it will save us money and get us more focused on buying our new place:)

thank you all again for help- am away to start new thread on more things happening in my life at the mo and need some help with....:T

nozzadamozza - I am glad that you have made a decision and I think it is the right one. By renting in the immediate term it will take the pressure off you to buy straight away, and you are more likely to choose the right house and location when in a relaxed frame of mind.

Good luck with the move and keep us posted! Feel free to resurrect the thread anytime :D

    Hi Everyone

Thought i would resurrect this thread as I am currently having a looksy round some houses in the East of the city.

My hubby and I are going to have a look at some houses around garnerville road / garnerville park area on Friday but now I'm a tad worried as someone at his place of work mentioned that this has had 'problems' of the Norn Iron kind- ie i did a quick search and found this :eek:

So I was wondering, does anyone have any knowledge of this area or should i cancel my viewings for somewhere safer?? Thanks for any help:)

Oh and if you know of any areas that are a no-no in the east, please do let me know:)

Don't cancel the viewing, you will get a better idea when in the area, I know it may not mean much as in the "Norn Iron kind" but that was 5 years ago.
