Hi everyone, can anyone suggest a good place to look into the various products available if I want to invest money in an equity ISA? Or even better, suggest any actual products for me? It's an area I know very little about but am interested in investing while the stock market is low.
I'm happy to invest for the long term so no concerns about any short term drops in the market etc, but I would like to invest in something which is likely to give a better return than just sticking the money in my offset mortgage (4.89%)
Thanks!

There are about 50,000 things you can place inside a stocks and shares ISA.
What did you have in mind?I'm happy to invest for the long term
What is long term?no concerns about any short term drops in the market etc

Hi Dunston, thanks for your reply. I'm aware that there are lots of options available, that's why I'm really looking for a good source of information I can use to do some research myself
When I say long term I mean 5 year minimum but realistically I cannot forsee any circumstances in which I would need the money back in the next 10 years. My intention is for this to be an investment for retirement so 30 years away.
Therefore short term drops aren't really an issue for me - I'm looking for something which will give a good long term return, not bothered about short term performance?

The Hargreaves Lansdown website is a good source of information on the various types of equity funds available, all of which can be included in a stocks & shares ISA. www.h-l.co.uk If you go to their Research section it gives detailed information of various sectors available, past performance figures, yields, etc. They also have a Wealth 150 selection of funds in various sectors such as Gobal, Emerging Markets, UK Growth, UK Income, etc. (Funds listed with a Gold Star are in their selection of top Wealth 150 recommendations). If you're investing for the long term you can opt to have all dividends reinvested rather than paid out to you.0
