I think it would be worth you asking to have this moved to the Mobiles Board. Meanwhile ...
The first thing is that Virgin has different tariffs and coverage for prepaid and monthly post-paid by DD. And Tunisia is not covered by the pure prepaid version.
Incoming texts are always free, and their tariff shows that outgoing texts are 25p. Call charges £1.00 outgoing, 50p incoming.
It may be worth getting a local SIM to put in an unlocked phone.
http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/tunisia.html has details of the two networks there, with tariff and other info. Tunisiana seems to have slightly cheaper calls to UK, at 17p vs 20p, but I can't see the price and credit on the SIMs; maybe try the actual network sites
To call a Tunisia mobile from here, see the MSE Callchecker - seems to cost about 9 to 13p per minute.0 -
Well I also have a selection of sims from all of the other networks in the UK.
would it be better to change to another network?
o2, voda, T.Mobile, orange?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Payg tends to be more expensive for roaming, and they'll all have fairly similar tariffs, around £1 a minute, but check their websites
eg Orange £1.40 call, 90p receive. O2 99p each, or £1.49 to call other UK mobiles
O2 payg does have a free call of up to a minute, and a free sms, per week - if she gets a Tunisian SIM, this would be handy to call home with the number.
otherwise stick with text messages I think0 -
Ok Redux.
Thanks for the info.
as you say Texts it is.
Wow a week of silence except for the chirp of the phone. Don't know how I'll manage.
