I have successfuly setup Outlook to connect to my live account proliant@live.co.uk and it worked, just make sure that you select SSL for both the Incoming and Outgoing settings and make sure you have not selected SPA (Secure password Authentication) anywhere.

Well, I've just logged into my Live account and as far as I can tell (I don't use this one much at the moment), your online account will retain a copy of your emails in the Inbox.

@Proliant; I'm guessing you're a more active Live user than me... Can you give a more definite answer on this one?

  • Morning all,

I have several hotmail accounts going into outlook using the outlook connector (google it, it's an add on for outlook) and I think it is the best solution as your email is stored on the hotmail server and in your outlook (which replicates what you have on line)

Beauty of this is that I can use outlook and my laptop for 90% of the time then if I desperately need to check emails when away from the laptop I can log on to hotmail using any computer/internet connection and see the same thing. Also means all mails are backed up in two places.

Once you've downloaded the outlook connecter it is a doddle to set up the account in outlook, no settings etc needed, just your username and password.
