    Thats a shame. I'm lucky enough to love fruit and veg: which I think must make it immeasurably easier. I guess what I'd ask myself, if I were you, next is do you really hate fruit and veg more than struggling with weight and tiredness. Frankly, if there were a disgusting pill to takethat would work, and injection, or something else I'd do it to lose weight more easily: so the idea of looking at dietry changes and trying to ''reeducate'' tastebuds perhaps seems less onerous to me. I have a very restricted calorie diet to manage my weight, and its hard, and it means I hae to really plan for things like going out. I'm also a pretty good cook, I often now cook meals I don't eat :( However, the real trick I think is to find what suits your body and you, not what would suit ther people :o
  • Agee with all of that (but can't back up the brands recoomendd as not used them). What I would say about conditioner is that sometimes, with my fine but extremely culry frisy hair I leave in normal conditioner, being careful to avid the scalp. I spend a lot of time outside in bad weather and my hair was suffering: this really has had a huge impact on my hair health. It has a certain impact on frizz, but in no way replaces frizz products.


    Yep leaving in normal conditioner can make a good intensive treatment too.

    Makes my hair look too greasy to go out in though so I buy dedicated leave in ones. Sunsilk do a good one it a tube that you rub into damp hair. Or Aussie do a lightweight spray on one that helps detangle and protect if a cream one is too heavy.

    Serum can be good for avoiding frizz.

    Funny how different products turn out different for different users :) I use H&S most of the time, having tried SO many shampoos over the years, and it really suits my hair. I use a dollop of coconut conditioner very occasionally in the winter and my hair is lovely and soft all year round (and no flaky scalp).

    Now dry hooves and elbows, that's an issue for me :D If I forget to slap the old E45 on and pair of old socks before going to bed, for a couple of nights running then I really notice it - you know the lovely rugged coastlines you get in the West Country? That's my hooves if I neglect them!

    Amyb...congrats on your OH winning that competition - If you can't find enough to spend the £250 on on Simply Yours, you should be able to order stuff from the sister sites like Simply Be - I've placed an order on Simply Be for goods from 4 different sister sites all in the same order, no problems. Is it your own feeling on the matter, or have other people told you that you're too tall?     Oooh. Never realised it was a sister site too Simply Be. have ordered from there before. They do trousers in a 35" leg - witch no where does for big girls.
    Heels wise... i do occasionaly wear them but i feel like a drag queen towering over everyone!

    Might do a bit of internet close shopping browsing now before work; although normally always get tempted by gorgeous skirts. (which i can't wear and they hang lower at the front and look silly)

    I lost over 4 stone with WW and while I'm still about 2 stone over my the goal I originally considered, it's stabilised at that and I can't be arsed to obsess about it. My health, fitness and self esteem have improved loads so I'm not too worried. Plus I'm a lot older than you (43) and at my age, it's only the extra layer of fat that's keeping the wrinkles at bay. ;) I used to be 22 bottom, 24 top, now I'm 16-18.

    I used to be terrible with veg, but I'm getting better. What worked for me in increasing my veg was trying new veg (I'd never tried stuff like butternut squash or sweet pots, for instance) or eating veg that was disguised. What about trying veg soups, ratoutille (sp) (I love that!) or vegetable curries or chillies? They're very low calorie and all count towards your five a day. You could have a large portion as a main meal, or a small portion as a side dish alongside meat or fish. Or add a salad to your sarnies at lunch, or chop up celery, carrots, peppers and put inside your lunchbox with some cherry toms alongside your sarnie? Could you consider that?

    And with fruit a big dish of fruit salad with a low fat topping like low fat creme frieche is lovely, or add a meringue case as they're low calorie.You could try some more exotic fruits like mango or pineapple as well. Or add some fruit to your cereal in the mornings....blueberries are lush with cereals.

    Oh and when I lost my weight I started getting more into clothes....while I'm no fashionista, I do take more pride in my appearance and am now much more likely to wear brighter colours and better fitting clothes than all the black baggy stuff I used to.

    Hiya Pinkylouloubell (fab name!)

    First of all, larger ladies can look great - have a read through this blog (which I nicked shamelessly from the fashionista threads :)) the girl who does it looks lovely and has some good links.

    Looking in the mirror and hating what you see is something that you can change. It's amazing what an overhaul of your look can do for your confidence - but you do have to put a bit off effort in to make it a habit - I know, I'm such a slob at heart! Do a bit of research online for looks that you like, there is a thread on here somewhere with some links http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1846837 there you go, do a bit of browsing on there. Oh and defo look here http://divalookbook.com/ as there are some really nice ideas.

    Then you've gotta get yourself into town and start trying stuff on! Preferably a town with a New Look, Evans, Matalan, and H&M, just try stuff that you'd never even think of and see how it looks. Then you can start thinking about buiding up a wardrobe.

    For the hair, my mum has really frizzy hair (although you wouldn't know it as she controls it really well) and I know that she uses the TIGI dream drops serum, as well as Frizz Ease. TIGI products can be dear but try ebay. You could also try some of the other curl enhancing products around, rather than trying to tame the frizz, try to boost the curls, if you get me.

    Anyway I'm banging on now...:p

    I have a bit of weight to lose and I'm currently a size 16/18 bottom and 14/16 top. I have a very slim waist though it is my thighs and bum and boobs that carry all my fat. This makes finding clothes very difficult mainly trousers as tops can be cinched at the waist to flatter my shape rather than looking like a tent.

    Clothes wise I would agree about good underwear, a nice pair of jeans, even with a bit of stretch they will hold you in a bit more. I would also suggest wearing trousers rather than a baggy skirt as although a skirt skims over your shape it will make you look bigger overall, whereas trousers (particularly black or dark jeans) will make your legs look a bit slimmer. Team this with a longline v-neck, fitted t-shirt or shirt with a long black, open, cardigan over the top and this will create length and pull the focus to the centre of the body. Large necklaces or scarves do a similar job, basically skim over what you don't like, and focus on your positives.

    I would also suggest taking some time even one evening a week doing your nails nicely or a face pack or something. Little things that make you feel better about yourself. Local training colleges do very cheap treatments and are overseen by tutors so for a pedicure/ manicure can make you feel amazing.

    Moisturise face, neck arms and legs minimum. This makes your skin feel soft and smooth and will make you feel better in your skin. Make enough time in the mornings to 'do your face' if you don't usually wear make- up just try putting on some mascara every morning and it is amazing how much better something so tiny can make you feel. I never wore make-up in the day before having DD but afterwards I started feeling a bit drab so started to do my make up every morning, just a bit of transparent powder, eye shadow and mascara, but I feel much better after doing it.

    Hair wise I would also suggest straighteners. If it is really thick, pin your hair up and do it in layers, and in small sections. Also you could try using natural shampoos such as lush or lavera. I used to have bad condition, frizzy scruffy hair and it was awful. I now only use natural shampoo (or skip shampoo completely and just use conditioner which is much better for your hair and doesn't damage it like harsh shampoo does.) I also made sure I got my hair trimmed every 8 weeks, and straightened it after every hair wash. Now I don't need to straighten it at all, it has changed my hair type completely. Get yourself a nice haircut and get regular trims.

    As for the extra weight, only you know if you are up to losing it at the minute. I would say that if you learn to love things about yourself you will be happy at any size, but you will prob have the confidence to do something about it. If you are up to the challenge you could try slimming world or weight watchers as the support threads on here are really good!

    Hope you start to feel better soon, you are a mummy and as such you are the most important person in someones life! Recognise this and make yourself feel importantant, treat yourself and find ways to build your confidence.

    Thats is so sweet it bought a tear to my eye!

    I been thinking all day about what I am going to do and plucked up the courage earlier to call my docs and make an appointment with the nurse to talk about weight reduction.
    My doctor suggested this to me a couple of months ago when I went to see him, but I just havent bothered to do it.
    so I have an appointment for Saturday morning :eek:

    AmyB I know exactly what you mean about the shopping with friends/family who are skinny thing.
    Its awful.
    I havent set foot in topshop or bay trading for god knows how many years now.
    I usually go to Evans (if I have a voucher or maybe after birthday as I find them expensive)
    Matalan which is ok for tops but not skirts.
    bon Marche as I love their skirts, I know they normally seem to do oldie type clotes, but they do have some lovely stuff in there too, Id say 80% of my skirts come from there.
    debenhams are OK too when they have a sale and maybe
    asda or tesco too.

    My younger sister is the complete opposite to me and at 21 is a size 6-8 and we are not really that close, but if we do go shopping together its awful.
    She just looks at stuff and knows if it will fit her whereas I always have to try on.
    I feel quite inadequete next to her and I know I shouldnt but I do, its awful.

    I too as well feel like I get treated differently now Im big.
    I dont know if it is all in my mind, but when I was slimmer it was like people respected me more than they do now.

    the only time I can EVER wear my hair down is if I have used irons, which calms the frizz right down.

    Why don't you just accept that you need to use them all the time then?

    I have naturally curly/wavy hair, I want sleek straight hair, so I was & iron it every other day. I use GHDs & do it really well & it lasts two days.

    You would never know I didn't have straight hair;)
