Problems with old aol account

I swopped my aol account a couple of months ago and am now with bt. I picked up the phone tonight to a man from aol:eek: telling me i owed £16 as i cancelled within contract. I dont believe this is correct. Do I need to pay? I told him to put it in writing.

Well were you still in contract? We can't tell you that.If so you will have to pay the sum equivalent to what you would have paid until the end of your minimum term.No free lunch, and no free laptop
