I keep getting strange email messages in my Yahoo 'bulk' folder from people I don't recognise and subjects I know nothing about ie Henrietta Mathis - Snorken Subteltly and Muriel Tappa - righteous redden. I am getting about 6 or 7 per day and I just delete them. Ive got my SPAM guard settings on and the only way I can find to delete them automatically is to delete everything that comes into my bulk folder. I dont want to do that because on occasion there is something there I am interested in which has gone into that folder by mistake. The messages seem to be about shares or something - trading prices, selling prices opening prices. How can I stop them and what do you think they are??

I've been getting the same things through my BT account (essentially Yahoo). BT are normally very good at filtering these things out, but occasionally they slip through.
I suspect Yahoo/BT will catch on to them soon and amend their filters accordingly. I have had similar problems in the past, but BT amended their filters and stopped them after a week or so.
I would just ignore them, delete them from your bulk folder and wait for the filters to kick in eventually. If you have the facility to I would also report them to Yahoo.0 -
Ive just started getting them as well. About 3 a day through NTL. I hope they sort it soon.0

I hope they get rid of them soon - hopefully someone from Yahoo/BT/NTL may be reading this...0

snap! i'm with ntl too!0

Me too...I did report it to Yahoo0

Been getting them into Yahoo mail too. 3 - 5 of them each day for the past week or so. I've just been marking them as spam so a notification goes to Yahoo.0

I've had two official looking e-mails lately asking, indeed insisting, that I click on a link to update my Alliance and Leicester account details. Would have reported them, but to whom? I'm with ntl also, if that helps.
Hard to believe that anyone would be that gullible, but they are very well done, and it's easy just to click on a link on the spur of the moment. I use incredimail, and have little spam trouble normally, unlike AOL, where I used to have masses of it.0 -
I have been getting these weird emails also during the past few days, sometimes up to 4 a day. I'm a complete novice with IT and after reading this thread went into Outlook Express then "my messages" then "delete" and "block." Will this work? I expect I may find out within the next 24 hours.
Did try the "Help" section first but it looked far too complicated for me.The £2.00 Savers Club = £130.00 (Started Feb.06 -saving for a dream - to visit Thailand again!)0 -
Yup - Alliance & Leicester and shares stuff coming through NTL, several a day.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

If you don't ask, you don't find out!0
