to stop kids hanging around where they cause a nuisance.

Ah, so kids hanging around is a nuisance. OK.

where lots of chavs and wasters used to hang around...

Is the definition of waster someone who hangs around? Otherwise there seems very little evidence of wasting.

as they were being deafened by a Mosquito that I couldn't hear!!

Shows that they work though...not a teenage chav to be seen!

Still, torturing 43% of the population (age under 35, 2001 census) is a small price to pay to reduce "nuisance".

Sorry to vent in the thread, but it's no wonder young people feel let down by society when there are attitudes like this about.

You are twisting my words, as you very well know!

I said: 'to stop kids hanging around where they cause a nuisance'. In the Carlisle situation, getting rid of 40-50 teenagers regularly hanging around in an alleyway, smoking and drinking (at an illegal age) and abusing people who try and get past them is a 100% justifiable and reasonable for this device!

When did the definition of a teenager become 'aged under 35' ??? :rotfl:

For your information, I have two teenagers of my very own, so I am quite entitled to my opinions. Thankyou.

Sounds faulty - because it's going off so often. It should only sound when it's set off, either that it's badly situated so it's been activated all the time.

Although it is a high frequency sound it is still audible to some human ears just as low frequency sounds are. You're just one of the lucky few that can detect higher frequencies.

I'm sure whoever has it is complaining about the cats - but nothing will get done about that of course.

I can vouch for the chavs in the alley at McDonalds, so glad theyre gone, but surely they must have better things to do than congregate in their masses :(
  • As Viper said, this device must be faulty, it should only sound when activated by motion, but as well as cats setting it off, humans can too.
As to if these things work, I have had one since April, and have only had 3 cat whoopsies since then. I would recommend the STV610 bought in Wilkinson.

I think the moral of the story is if you can't find the owner of the repeller; stay in & keep your windows shut!! :rotfl:

Had a word with enviromental health they are going to have a nosey about they say they can look in peoples gardens , i just hope they can find it
  • A bit off the subject in a way but anyone having probs with cats: spray with water. The louder the spray hiss the better. I know you have to catch them in your garden to do that but eventually they get the message. My dad even set up a garden hose and when he saw a cat, would turn the tap on from the kitchen. Think there are some plants that cats dislike as well.

    Or use one of these:

always on duty, 24/7, site it exactly where you want to discourage cats, move it around so they don't get wise to it.
