ok, ive looked at the source folder again
this is the main place where your windows installation is installed, so as it says earlier, it is your recover area. Did windows come pre installed with norton? if so then all your seeing is an instal file that will be ran if you installed using this partition.
If it did come pre installed i wouldnt worry, if its really bugging you, and you have a back up windows cd, then you can delete the entire i386 folder, this is a direct copy of the i386 folder that is on the windows cd0 -
ok well we bought this and had to make two cd's just incase, problem we have is our child god bless a 4 year old found them and used them as wheels on his car he built.. anyway they got broken so i guess i can not delete it unless i can make new cd's
malwarebytes is good but we have ran it in past and it says clean then ran adaware and it finds something then Mcafee and that finds something else, Hubby says more layers you have the better because not one catches everything0 -
Ive never trusted adaware, as a couple of times its been isntalled on my pc through spyware, i dont trust software that has used spam to install itself on your machine.
i find a combination of malware bytes, avg and windows defender seems to keep me clean. aswell as soap
the more "brand programmes" you have, ie mcaffe, norton, semantic etc.. the more trouble pcs seem to encounter.
If you know exactly what version of windows you have, and the product key is on your case, you can use some dodgy ways in which to download a backup, its not a problem if you only use your product key0 -
is that the long one on the sticker on the back of the computer? I know husband did it after he had installed some programmes and they came up when he run the disc. he says must be a way to find the data section that says can only download once and change it After all once you buy something you should be able to back it up in that way as many times as you need, discs do wear out after all0
-
yea, there is a sticker, says product key, i think its 5 sets of 4 keys. You're allowed to back everything up aslong as you prove you owned it originially as proved by your product key, ive told microsoft ive downloaded it, while going through some activation issues I shouldnt of had, and they where fine with it0

have just found out when you put the discs in to recover there is a hidden section...
Preparing the hard drive for recovery using the recovery discs (Manufacturer Menu)
NOTE: Please be aware that using your system's recovery discs may take two hours, and that using discs ordered directly from HP may take four to six hours and include several restarts.- Insert recovery disc 1 into the notebook and restart.
- When the PC restarts, it reads from the Recovery CD/DVD, and displays a screen of options (typically R, F, and Q.)
- Press and hold the ctrl key, and press the Backspace key. The Manufacturer Menu is displayed.
- Select option 4, "Clear the partition table."
The following message appears: No Operating System Installed or Partition Corrupted Press "R" to perform a full system recovery. - Do not press R. Instead, press and hold down ctrl , then press Backspace to bring up the Tools Menu.
- Select option 5, "Erase the Master Boot Record of drive."
The following message appears: No Operating System Installed or Partition Corrupted press "R" to perform a full system recovery.
NOTE: If there are no partitions, the following message appears: No MBR or master boot record found. Continue using these steps . - Do not press R. Instead press and hold down ctrl , then press Backspace to bring up the Tools Menu.
- Select option 6, "wipe all sectors of drive."
An Erasing Hard Drive progress bar will appear. This process may take longer than one hour to complete, depending on the size of the hard drive. When the hard drive is completely erased, the following message is displayed:
No Operating System Installed or Partition Corrupted Press "R" to perform a full system recovery. - Press R to begin the automatic System Recovery process.
