Hi Guys,
I noticed at the weekend my Samsung Fridge Freezer had risen to temp's of 15, and was making a buzzing noise. I have read the older posts about the problem and realise that i need to call Samsung, the problem is I have just bought this house and the fridge freezer came with it (I paid an additional £200 for the fridge to stay), i have all the manuals etc but obviously no receipt. Do you think Samsung will help me or will I be buying a new fridge this week?
Thanks
V

First its better to ask for the receipt from the person from whom you brought the home. Later you call the Samsung and ask for their help and in case you don't get the receipt also its better to call the Samsung people as its their product they are supposed to help you.

Thanks. I have spoken to Samsung and they say the fridge was registered in Jan 04, which makes it 8 months out of the extended warranty. They have given me the number of a local engineer and he has quoted £200 approx.
Has anyone had any luck getting Samsung to fix outside of the extended warrranty?
Thanks

I was told be a refrigeration engineer to not ever buy American fridges as he gets called out to them all time often breaking down0

Bin the thing, it's an evil machine from hell.
Mine was fixed under warranty and lo and behold...it's off again. The repair was supposed to solve the problem once and for all. :rolleyes:Herman - MP for all!0 -

It's an evil machine & a repair won't change that.
Don't bother with a repair. I tried many different engineers most of whom advised me that they won't repair any samsungs any more as they are so unreliable it was ruining their reputations!0 -
Mine was fixed (the 'known fault') around 14 months ago and its packed up again this week! Similar symptoms - fridge getting much too cold and a loud 'death rattle' heard all over the house.
Samsung tried to palm me off saying I had a limited warranty which only covers a few very specific bits - but I have a full extended warranty (letter mentions extended warranty in 7 places). Anyway, according to the engineer who fixed it today, Samsung were advised that ALL RS21 owners were to be given a full extended warranty which covered ALL parts of the cooling system not just the plastic condenser cover which caused the original fault. He said the sensor has gone this time and he replaced it under the warranty.
All very well but this is the 2nd time its been repaired in 3 years and, obviously, I'm concerned that it will give trouble again - possibly after the extended warranty expires. I know its no good worrying about it but I'm really not impressed.ELITE 5:2

And its packed up again - just 4 weeks after the last repair!
This is ridiculous and I am now wondering whether I can try to force a replacement out of them. I would go down the small claims route if necessary.ELITE 5:2

Would just like to comment that my LG fridge freezer packed in over the weekend (gas leak). And the engineer/friend advised me to stay away from samsung + LG's.
Common problems with these and also as these are using different types of gas R600's. These can be repaired but will cost and arm and a leg and won't be worth it.
Cost me around £300 2 years ago and on sale but was around 380. so high prices don't mean good quality products.
Was advised to go for a Bosch or whirlpool or hotpoint.
Ps the more gadgets the more chance of things going wrong.0
