P.0. returned item from abroad?Conscience!

Recently I asked a question re a buyer who had not received an item abroad, good feedback etc., but asked the question on day 39 I answered could he check with his sorting office, he said he would and I heard nothing else from him. So presumed he had got it. The 45 days were up and also the 60 days for feedback.

Today 91 days after I sent the item it has been returned to me marked in another language delivered twice, not collected, return to sender.

So conscience is pricking me how can I refund the buyer for this item? He has paid me approx £12 for the item plus postage I now have it and he doesn't. I am only a private seller and I was selling off some vintage stuff so I have not kept details etc.

Any advice would be gratefully received?

p.s. I do not know whether it is a testament to my packing or the P.O. service in both countries but the item has come back to me in immaculate condition. So there maybe some hope for us all.

He's probably forgotten about it but I would still refund him. It's the right thing to do. ;)

How did buyer pay you? If it's via PayPal then I would do a search for all money received from the last 3 months (you can do this using "advanced search" option. You can then filter the transactions by buyer name or even amount.

Once you find the transaction then copy their PayPal id and choose the send money option and send them the total amount as a "gift" option. This way you /buyer won't pay any PayPal fees :) I would also add a note of apology and a brief explanation.

    Hope this helps.

I never new that! Learn something new everyday very useful Thanks
  • If you send as a gift it gives you the option of paying the fees rather than the receiver of the money. It's not totally free afaik.

Ah! I thought it's free :( It use to be but I just checked and that is no longer the case. LOL
  • :confused:I'm just looking and it looks like it might be now:confused:
Last time I sent as a gift, it gave me the option of me paying the fees or the receiver paying them but it seems different now.
    *edit*

    I'm all confused now :(

Is it correct there's no protection with a gift payment?

It is free if you have funds in paypal, if not, they do charge.
  • Ah thanks lallysmum, I've got funds in my account atm so it was coming up as no fee, but the time I did it previously I didn't have funds so I had to pay the fee.
