No, just dial her number as per normal!

You will pay the same rate as if she was in the UK and she will pay to receive the call (approx 20p - 1.50p per minute depending on her network/tariff e.t.c.). It is possible that if she has no/low call credit that this is why she can't receive calls. Also if she has a contract phone then the account must be setup for roaming otherwise it won't work at all.

Text messages are free to receive abroad so you could try to text.

    Hope this helps.

    thankyou for your quick reply.

she has plenty of credit. I spoke to my mobile company last night 4 times, 1st person said no code required, 2nd said needed a code etc etc, in the end i just didnt know what to believe. dont know why i cant get through...will keep trying.

Another reason could be that the phone will not work in the country she has gone to. e.g. USA requires a tri/quad band phone.

Which network? I think that most PAYG are enabled for international use by default but a contract mobile may need to be enabled to work.

I'm surprised they've confused you with their advice. You don't need any code - just dial the UK mobile number.

Once you establish contact, sending sms instead would probably save a fair amount
