Not yet - I have to
    a) log the expenses for the year - was meant to be finished yeterday
    b) do the accounts for the year - to be done today
    c) then do the tax return - tomorrow -
then ready to hand everything in first thing tuesday morning.

Unfortunately I have to catch up from yesterday as work came to a grinding halt in spectacular style - at 7pm the lights started flickering badly haunted house style :eek:and then I kid you not, World War 3 broke out 50 yds up the road - bright white light flashes/flares and very loud cracks/bangs/ -...cars doing emergency stops outside my house:eek: and then my power went off. Rang the emergency services and told them I thought a sub station had blown up - turns out an overhead power cable was burning through/arcing so they closed the road, called the electricity board to come and fix it.... and we had the power off til early this morning :(. Thankfully I don;t think anyone was hurt.

Spent a restless night shining a torch out the window hoping the stream wouldn;t decide to add to things by bursting its banks (it came very close) and praying the piggies wouldn;t get too cold (large changes in temperature not good for piggies ).

Still all back to normal today except my wireless connection didn;t survive the ordeal (however I now have a temporary fix in place til I can get a new one :D).

Right, must get dressed and plough on with the expense receipts.

Glorious sunny day here today - hope everyone is now free of the snow

Taxi and Sammy- you need to slap my wrists.....I am ashamed and I should have known better!!
Expenses giving me headaches :confused: as I am finding I did not record mileages/petrol receipts etc consistently at the time and there are lots of gaps:mad: (it's my own fault and I have never been this disorganised before as I normally have a diary in the car to put everything in :o.....However in mitigation I was non-compos mentis for the first 9 months of 08/09, have mislaid a lot of stuff in the move back home, can;t even remember if I did have a diary, let alone where it may be now....:confused:...)...but at least this current year's stuff is properly recorded :D....however nearly there

    b) do the accounts for the year - to be done today
nearly finished....waiting to enter the final expenses payment from above and then reconcile all payments against the bank statements
    c) then do the tax return - tomorrow -
This will be a pain searching for all the documentation/bank statements/ pensions certificates etc.and filling in their horrible form .....but an extra day probably won;t matter as they can;t do the tax return until the accounts are audited.
I am taking my time over the accounts/filing/documentation etc to ensure
it is all self-explanatory and the accountant doesn;t have to hunt for anything (keeps his bill for time down ;))

then ready to hand everything in first thing tuesday morning.
Hopefully I can still do it - as I have client meetings tues and wednesday.

Taking a break as have been at now for 10 hours . Fish pie is in the oven, and I have a glass of wine :D. Just going to feed/med the guineas and then myself. Might spend another couple of hours tonight to try and catch up....although after the disturbances last night I have to admit I am shagged :o
and it might be better if I just go to bed after I;ve eaten.

I am very annoyed with myself as I am sure I will have to pay more tax (which means paying double because I have to make an "on account" up front payment for what I may owe next year - perils of being self-employed in your first year - you end up with double your tax bill ).....And this is my own fault because I haven;t kept as meticulous records of receipts etc as I normally do. However to be kind to myself, (and I really think I should put the whips and chains away )... this set of accounts and tax return is the last thing left to deal with pertaining to the dark days post flood/nervous breakdown. These accounts were always going to be a fiasco - the amazing thing is I actually earned money while I was in such a state :T ....so I shall just bite the bullet about the extra tax and start to draw a line under those dark days as hopefully (assuming Mr Ombudsman comes up trumps as that complaint gainst the insruance company is still churning its way through the system) there's nothing more left now to bite me in the bum :rotfl::rotfl:

Right off to potter with piggies :D

    Hi Taxi et al

8 hours solid concentration today..(wow - it's been really good to find out that I CAN still do this as for the last two years I have been unable to :T:T) ...and..
    The expenses are done :j:j
The accounts are done (in Excel only), reconciled with the bank statements and the paperwork organised. :j
Have stopped for dinner, piggies and glass of vino.
This evening it's sort out the personal paperwork/fill in the tax return form the accountants sent me and then if time (otherwise tomorrow am) transfer the accounts data from the spreadsheet into my old style ledger book (saves the accountant time as easier to read/mark off entries)

Client meeting at 2pm tomorrow so aiming to drop all the stuff on en route at 1pm which gives me the morning to "tart things up" to save as much of the accountant's time (and my money) as possible ;)

I am looking forward to the weekend...complete chill out...Despite the last few carp weeks....there is lots of positive stuff to celebrate..In fact my friend is coming over to give me my christmas pressie and we have decided to re-start 2010 again from saturday ...:rotfl::rotfl:

Have to say Penguin - the power line blowing up last sunday may provide a bit of competition for the virtual fireworks :rotfl::kisses3: - But - we here are all really excited here to hear you are getting furries :j:j- piccies please as and when :D...ooh and Beechie says can you get some girlies please as they are now (unfortunately :() in short supply down here ;) ....(he is no longer smelly :T....and has a lovely silky coat :T:T . Clearly he has decided to clean up his act in preparation :D)

Right - back to the grindstone now ...mustn;t lose focus or momentum..:o
