    Afternoon all!

Sorry I didn't manage to get on this morning to wish Jo luck with her interview, but I'm glad it went well. Fingers crossed that the you get the job - you deserve some good news. (Edited to see you got it - congratulations!!!!!!!)

Rachelkate I see that no-one has answered your question (edited to say Triker has now) regarding the toilet - firstly welcome to the thread though. My advice would be to try washing the area with bleach and hot water if it is a vinyl or tiled floor - same goes for the toilet seat. If you can find an old toothbrush, that will be good for cleaning the bit where the toilet seat joins the bowl, as there may be some yucky bits around there. Make sure you have a window open if possible. They had a similar problem in a carpeted bathroom on how clean is your house the other day, and once they'd steam cleaned the carpet, they advised making a carpet freshener out of 1 cup of baking soda (bicarb) and 1 cup of talc (I think) and 15 drops of essential oil - shake on, leave over night and then vacuum up the next day. Hope one of these tips is useful for you. Some of the other ladies/gents may have other suggestions for you?

Had an interesting morning. *Long story which some may find amusing coming up*

Got up at 8.15 (early for me now it's the holidays) as I wanted to go to Mr T so that I could get cream and raspberry jam to make a cake for my friend who was coming over at 11. Got those, got back and made the cake - normally this is a fail-safe recipe done in the microwave, but instead of SR flour, I only had Plain. No problem, I thought, so I just added baking powder, but added a bit too much and the cake overflowed from it's container, and was a lot thinner because of this. Fine, I thought, I put all of the overflowing bits back in the tin, and pressed down and recombined them. Turned the cake out, but half of it stayed in the tin, even though I'd greased it. Decided to turn it into a trifle with the jam and whipped cream. Was whipping the double cream for ages, and nothing was happening (balloon whisk), so called OH as my arm was hurting. He decided to get his drill and tried to stick it on the end of the whisk - cue cream going all over the toaster (inside the buttons etc) and all over me!!! He thought it was hilarious, but as there was only 30mins til my friend was turning up, I was not amused! Anyway, he managed to find a whisk that would fit in his drill and whisked it for me, but I still had the mess to clear up. So, kitchen has been quite thoroughly cleaned to get rid of the cream, including in the microwave where the cake overflowed too!

Still the trifle turned out to be really nice and friend asked for the recipe - even OH liked it, and he normally doesn't like chocolate cake.

Oh forgot the bit where OH decided to pull the dishwasher out just when I'd finished tidying so that I couldn't put any of my baking stuff away, and the cat decided to go in there and managed to get underneath the house!

Right where is that list? I must be able to cross quite a few things off now.

OMG Jo - that's the best news ever! I'm so pleased for you, well done!

Kaz....way to go with the pond removal!!!

I'm definitely giving up with the lists during the holidays....not a chance i'm afraid. Saying that....i've spent two and half hours in DS's bedroom chucking, sorting, cleaning and trying clothes on DS. The room is now tidy!!!

I've also finished drying my bed covers, done a washing load and checked online banking.

Now i'm going to make a shepherds pie. No peace in this 'ere house!

    Hugs to all xx

I can sort of see the funny side of it all now, and I'm glad that it made a few of you laugh too! It does have the ring of a comedy sketch doesn't it? lol

PS I've got my own back on him for the fact that he promised me that he'd clean out the toaster when he did it and I ended up doing it - he's got to clean and mop the floor now! lol *cackles with laughter*
