But Taxi, don't you have the entertainment of the flower of British youth wandering ever so politely through your town of a weekend
- I reckon that must be good for a free giggle or two :rotfl:
In the meantime have you thought about where you want to go to on your debt free holiday?Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

KC...I knew you'd face the same problems as me as well.I sometimes wish things were simpler budget wise but couldn't ever work for somebody else again so am prepared to live like this.
We work 6 days a week at the moment and use the day off just to recharge.I cannot have a drink in the evening even on a day off as am at work at 6am driving the following morning.
don't you ever have a drink on the *day* you finish work, so your day off is the "day after"? Probably too tired by then
The only thing we may do entertainment wise is go for breakfast out..we pay for this oot of our pocket money or an occasional meal out for anniversary/birthday and that's about it.
Thats quite fun - but if you go out for breakfast, if you have to work afterwards, its not quite the same - not for me, anyway.
Sometimes we'll have DGS and we either do really cheap things like park and picnic, play centres, walks or the zoo...farms etc.
And he'll remember it, not the specifics, but the general relationship!:j
I have a boring life..LOL...but boy is the world wide open when debt/mortgage free...
I can't wait - my income is fair dodgy at the mo, so I'm not quite sure things will work out that way - push comes to shove, tho, I can retire, rent the house out, and go work as a waitress somewhere like Shirley Valentine!
I have missed my holiday this year though and found that quite hard to sacrifice and may miss it next year due to wanting to get rid of the CCs but won't miss it when trying to pay the mortgage off.
If I were repaying at the rate you are, I'd probably have a weekend away - maybe you could do it with a Sun holiday, or Tesco vouchers or something?
I think I just have it in my head to just sacrifice stuff until cc free and then I'll review the situation.
I understand where you're coming from, definitely, but I've been so ill with this SPL, as Wol has so colourfully named it :rotfl:and I think about my poor brother in law too, so I'm determined to make more of my life this year.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Oh yes..plenty of entertainment value in this town...LOL(and that's just the locals..lol)
I haven't thought where I'd like to go on holiday yet. There are so many places I want to visit..
Would like a World cruise(in my dreams)
Sri Lanka
Thailand
Australia
New Zealand
Cuba..my favourite place
These are a few off the top of my head.0 -

I totally agree with you Karma....we have to make the most of life as we don't know what is around the corner:):):):)
It's all about life/work balance as well...and it's so hard to get right.
As to drinking on the night of the day before my day off..I'd be drinking on my own as DH would be at work.
Sorry, when I say breakfast out I actually meant on our day off.
If we do have a proper night out..we'll have it on our day off and I will take the next day off ..but it's very rare..I lose at least £50 each day off and sometimes I can take up to £150 a day so a lot of money to lose. The average is £80 between 6am and 1pm.
We will be having two days a week off when debt/mortgage free.:T:T:T:T:T
And a fair few holidays:T:T:T:T0 -
DH eventually got up at 1pm and we have been for a walk.
WE went for breakfast(my turn to pay)....but good value £7.40 for 2 american breakfasts and a tea and a coffee....yummy
We also paid another £50 off the Halifax CC
We popped into the Polish shop and got cooked meats and cheeese...good value and they slice the cheese for me so is less fattening...
Popped in off licence for DHs cans for tonight.
So have had a bit of exercise today.
While he was in bed I did washing up and put tea in the slow cooker(which is now ready) but if we don't have it later this evening we'll have it tomorrow.
That's about it for my day so far.0 -
Oh I see what you mean about drinking on your own with DH still working - thats no fun! But it *does* sound like you've had fun today, I'm glad to hear it. I've been round at my partner's, had a nice chat with him (well, work chat as well) and met up with the builder who did my retaining wall, he's so lovely - he's working next door to my partner, thats how I found him in the first place.
Have a good evening, Taxi
:hello: :hello: :hello:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Afternoon all,
What a boring day at work as it was quiet probably because the weather was lovely.
Had to pick up dog food today so another £44.50 spent.
Paid £220 off Halifax CC today..nearly there now and hoping to finish it this week
That's about it so far for today.0
