18866/1899 May you go bust!
Firstly i signed upto to 18866 and everything was great for the first few weeks and then people could no longer hear me.
i switched to 1899 and everything was fine and they then stopped collecting my direct debits and blocked my account. it has been like this for a month now. i don't want to go into the details but basically they are unable to collect £6 from an account which holds a few thousand! emails have been going backwards and forwards but to no avail.
Anyway, i need a new telecoms provider, any suggestions???

Well thats a nice helpful title for all the MSE users who are well happy with 18866/1899 ???
I am sorry you are/had problems with them but wishing a company to go bust is not a very charitable idea and I wouldn't have thought it has a place on MSE.0 -

you got to be kidding me!
and because of my comment on MSE they will indeed be calling in the receivers tomorrow ::)
you write with the same fervour of criticising someone making a racist/sexist comment.

OK,
I am not here to take sides, but i feel that all parties involved here could have chosen their words a little more constructively.
I would encourage all posters on topics like this to deal with hard facts and not emotions as it will be a lot easier for others to help and give ideas.0 -
I've never had any problems at all with 18866 since reading about them on this site, and registering with them.
I can't help agreeing with the posters above - wishing that a company should go bust just because you have had some problems which nobody else seems to have experienced is rather an over-reaction.0 -
Agreed - sacrifice some customer service which I rarely ever used with BT to get cheaper call rates seems a good enough deal for me.
Now if only there was a way to get Line Rental down.Alex Jones0 -
I am delighted with the service i have from 18866.
perhaps its your bank account customer service centre you should be getting in touch with?Blah0 -

My experience of BT support is that it is VERY bad. I would say without a doubt that over a period of 6 years thay have surpassed themselves with their levels of ineptitude. If I could choose somebody else to provide my phone line I would - unfortunately they have the monopoly on that one.
18866 Rocks !To infinity and beyond!0 -
BT do not have a monopoly on exchange line provision in the UK.
However, they are, by the terms of their operating licence, forced to allow other service providers to use their exchange lines. This allows customers to 'least cost route'. No other service provider in the UK is forced to allow other operators to use its exchange lines, and most do not allow carrier pre-selection or least cost routing by dialling a prefix.0
