Tesco credit card acceptance

My partner has a very high credit score, no missed payments and on elecroll.

Platinum with £3500, bal £21, gold card £1000 limit , bal £0. Tesco just turned her down but the intresting part is that they didnt do a credit check.

Did they give a reason? If they didn't get as far as a credit check then it means she was rejected purely on the information on her application. If the search was done this morning, it's possible that the CRA just hasn't been updated yet?

What I did notice however is that on the "link address" section, it appears that tesco must have made an inquiry but no search as such on the file...very strange

Are your existing cards with RBS? If so the request will reject as they only let you have 2 credit cards. I don’t think they even do a credit score on you if this happends. I believe at some point Tesco Finance will split from RBS but at the moment they still appear to be part of it – housemate’s latest Tesco statement had RBS at the bottom of it. Suggest you cancel one of you 2 existing cards if this is the case and reapply.

Something similar happened to me when I moved to RBS Private. Had a RBS Gold Visa and Platinum MasterCard and my application for a Private MasterCard was rejected. Cancelled one of my existing cards, reapplied 1 week later for the Private MasterCard and the application went through fine.
  • Applied for one online on teiesday, and it rejected me. did a credit-check, and I am in the clear, but I think the problem was that I had 4 live cards, although nothing on 2 of them.

Cancelled them, and tried again via phone on Wednesday, and was refused. The lady said that she would put it in writing why I had been refused. Thursday morning got a letter from tesco, saying I had been accepted, and just had to sign the form, send it back and my card would be in the post!

Bizzare. I will let you know it if turns up.

I had Natwest, Mint and Ulster card, all RBS backed until very recently. Know a few stoozers with 3 from the RBS stable. When was this change introduced?

Don't know how mint works but I know you can have 2 Natwest and 2 RBS cards no problem (I know because I used to myself!) At the bottom of my NatWest statements it doen't mention RBS on the payment slip though. looking at my Housemate's Tesco one it does.

    HI,

I haven't been living in the UK for long and I've only got an Halifax that has been active for 11 months (600 GBP limit) and another CapitalOne (100GBP).

Yesterday both CapOne and Halifax refused a limit increase so I've applied to Tesco and got a 3250GBP limit :-D

I'll believe it when is in my hands...
