yes, it was brilliant, i reduced food bills by sharing sunday meals with the family, and lots of other little things. so thats even more money in the pot, lol.
pleased to hear it. Did you also look into the meter if it was more expensive and did you sort out cutting down cost of childcare. I don't think you can have seen my post but I wondered if your childs father could help you out as you didn't seem to be in receipt of maintainance from him (which doesn't affect tax credit entitlement) and if he could help out with childcare even if he is unable to help out financially?

To be fair, there isn't much in my bank account now, and my home may not be full of lovely things

...but I'm sure your heart is full of PEACE now. :T (It was Albert Einstein who said "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.")

Congratulations on this huge achievement. Keep wishing on a star and who knows what's possible now? Have a wonderful day and we're all celebrating along with you

i'll nip back and have a look at the thread again. i remember the bit about the meter, but as its rented property its a £1 coin meter, and the landlord empties it when the bill comes in, so changing that wasn't an option. but chainging the last few bulbs to energy saving and making sure everything is swithce off at night has reduced how much i'm putting in, as has the lighter nights.
my dd father has dd overnight one night a week which helps enormously, although he's not in a situation he can contribute financially at the moment, its less meals to feed her and he does bits and pieces where he can, buys her bits she needs etc when he can, and this works fine at the moment.
childcare is still a bit up and down, although i have reduced it down by a night a week, by finishing early one night a week every three weeks but having two of her friends for tea, but she goes to their houses kind of on a rota system i guess, which saves me more in the long run.
if it hadn't been for all the tips on that thread though, it would have been another two-three months before debts were cleared off.
