It's not a boast - you did it, you've achieved what everyone is aspiring to.
    WELL DONE YOU!
    Proof it can be done.

  • Congratulations.
  • thanks so much for the congratulations, i'm absolutley walking on air. its like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
dudleyboy, i agree the mse way of life is very much for me now, i can't imagine going back to spending all the time, lol.
fizzel81, you will get there, its hard all the way, but with each bit you pay off remember your getting closer. when i started i thought of each £1 i paid off as a step, and I have a chart saved on excel with debt at highest and each month i'd reduce it by what i'd payed off (and add on the interest). sad thing is i'll miss watching the amount go down. lol.
we are having our first holiday (dd and myself) at the end of may, just a week in a self catering cottage, and thats our celebration, its being paid for with what would have gone on debts next month. we can't wait, as you can imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    thanks again,

    woas.

  • Welcome to the wonderful world of being In The Black. For some people it is tempting to start splashing out at this time. Keep in mind that money is like losing weight, once its done (debt paid off / goal weight reached) it takes work to maintain.
A good thing to think about is taking the amount you paid in debt & putting it into investments now. You've probably grown used to Living Below Your Means, so this should be easy. Have you thought about an ISA, if you haven't opened one already? Now your goals will be to see your balances rise above that 0 marker. Then they start to snowball as you have more saved. Its a wonderful thing. I cannot wait for you to update us on your progress another 5 years hence. this is so exciting!

    oh very well done !!!!
    really, really pleased for you.
So for the future: one month spend the money on yourself that would have gone on the debts, the next month save it.
You need a new spreadheet to show your savings going up!!!

Well done :T . I was reading one of your threads recently where you were trying to make sure you didn't slip back into debt. Did you manage to reduce any of your bills from the tips on there?

yes, it was brilliant, i reduced food bills by sharing sunday meals with the family, and lots of other little things. so thats even more money in the pot, lol.
