goofbay all the time - saves you getting carried away with your bidding and you can leave the screen and give your eyes a rest as well ( failure rate about 3-5% on my bids I would say though )

Threads like this really !!!! me off. People will use a service for ages without a problem and not praise it, but as soon as it goes wrong they slate it. I bet they'll keep using it though

Sniping tools are just the wuss's option anyway, if you're going to snipe, have the balls to do it manually. I can usually get a bid onto an item inside 4 seconds of it ending without needing to resort to proxy methods :p

  • Yes DaveAshton. If that's your definition of a wuss then I AM a wuss. I couldn't stay up till 3.42am in order to snipe the bid manually, nor did I have the guts to pull a sickie for the other one so I could snipe it from home (I can't access ebay from work). I also have a social life, which meant that I wasn't at home on Saturday night for another auction to finish.

I'm glad however that you clearly have enough time to sit in front of ebay all day everyday so you can snipe manually regardless of when the bid ends. Sheesh.
  • DaveAshton, not everyone can be online all the time or at stupid hours to bid on something.

I've heard you can bid any time you like; not just in the dying seconds. No need to stay up late.

I'd rather snipe when I have to rather than have a proxy bid nibbled away by other interested parties; there's a much higher chance of either paying more via other's bidding it up and/or getting it cheaper by bidding late by snipe/by hand.

Not everyone is glued to their PC every minute of the day.

Or so I am told. :o

Just go on a few minutes before the item is due to end. If you can't be on the computer before it ends then just bid as late as you can. Its not rocket science!

I can't access eBay from work. I don't like to bid with hours to go either as it pushes the price up.

I would have thought any canny buyer would realise that.

But then neither is automatic sniping and it does tend to get you items more cheaply than proxy bidding.

I've been using it (Bidnip) for a couple of years without any problems save for one bid which wasn't made for which I got some free snipes.

Since it's quite possible to lose a manually sniped bid I don't think that's too bad at all.
