Grrrr - failed snipes!

Now I realise the the subject of using sniping sites might be a little controversial here, but for those of you that don't like them, I suppose I've got my comeuppance. I set up my first 2 snipes set up in the past couple of days and both of them have failed - the bids didn't even get placed! I'm so annoyed! I've read the FAQ on bidnip.com and not sure which of the reasons applies to why they haven't worked.
Anyone here had any previous experience of this, and is it common for them to fail so much?

I use goofbay sometimes when I know I'm going to be out/not awake when the auction ends and so far it has worked for me although I have heard of instances when it has failed.0

I did have a couple of Goofbay snipes that failed due to "eBay page not responding" which was disappointing, but since then it's been working OK.0

I use auctionstealer, it has failed on the odd occasion, but mostly it does what bit says on the tin.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Thanks everyone - perhaps I should have used a different site then. I used bidnip.com based on the recommentation here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/ebay-protection#step3 as apparently it was more reliable(!) than goofbay. Obviously not!
Hasn't cost me anything in the end as they were free snipes, and it's not the end of the world I haven't won the auctions, just really annoying!0 -
i used jbidwatcher, it worked perfectly up untill ebays last update and now it seems to confuse itself.0

I use goofbays sniper if I'm going out or don't want to get carried away bidding. It's only failed for me once without being outbid. Was a while ago now but I think it was something to do with the ebay page not responding.0

Last year I had one failed bid with bidnip, so emailed them and got an apology and extra free snipes. Since then it has been 100% reliable. As they were your first attempts, I'd contact them to see what the problem is.0

Be brave do them manually then they dont fail0

Not everyone is glued to their PC every minute of the day.
Or so I am told.
I'm only glued when there is something I really want. i would rather do that than give my ebay login details to an unknown compay on the net. Too risky to my mind. (would you do the same with your banking details?)
Also the failure rate of these automatic snipes seem to be quite high0
