    Strangely enough I can't see any mention of Iron Stone Leather on Google either, but it is basically a tough grey leather, which is also fairly flexible.

    Cheap really is a false economy longer term, as they tend to wear at the finger tips and seems and they become hard at the palms making them difficult to wear.
    My Mind wanders, if found please return.

    But we are not talking long term . At below £4 its a one job glove :beer:

    Clear the allotment of brambles , and with the last bramble throw gloves away :D
    buying expensive gloves to pull up brambles ???

    I like the idea of welding gloves, but cant see them being cheap . perhaps pull sleeves down .
  • I had 99p gloves for years, they would do fine until I lost them. They did fine for brambles, though if you grasp the bramble, you would inevitably feel the thorn, but fine for picking up cut branches. From any warehouse clearance, poundland, market stall etc etc. Ive now got a 6.99 pair from homebase, with a fleece lining, which are so comfortable, but are getting still from when I forget where Ive left them in the garden. A 99p pair is no hastle to replace, where as I cant be buying too many 6.99 pairs! I also have a cheap pair from morrisons, which are basically thick marigolds as I cant be weeding in thick leather gloves. Saying that, theres nothing like atchually feeling the earth & weed when they dont sting or !!!!!.

    A pair of welding gloves will do the job, and protect your arms! We used them to clear our garden

    I just did a search on froogle for welding gloves & there are quite a few below £5;

    http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=welding+gloves+%5B+-ebay%5D&hl=en&scoring=p

    I haven't been through them to check the delivery costs though.

    I wouldn't mind a pair of these (£3.49) if p&p wasn't the best part of £6
