There's an unregulated part of the radio spectrum that a very wide range of consumer electronics (including doorbells) uses. Some things are better designed than others. Could be interference from a wide range of devices e.g. bluetooth, wi-fi, car key fobs, garage door openers, alarm systems, security cameras, kids toys.

All you can do really is try changing the channel (if possible on your model) or move it around the house and see if the interference source is blocked from a specific position. Changing the channel worked on my one, which had the same sort of problem.

same here argos £26.99 jobbie, ringtone set to "big ben tune" (tacky I know!) but once or twice monthly I hear a simple "ding dong" from it! I think on the new house I will wire one in!

We have got a wireless one and occasionally would have a "phantom" ring, I would go outside and couldn't see anyone close by, in case one of our neighbours had the same doorbell.

We have houses at the back of us as well, so could have been from there.

I changed the code and it hasn't happened since.
