Sodding doorbell...!!

Last week we bought a plug in door bell from B&G for £19.99.

Stuck the buzzer to the front door frame (uPVC) and have the sounder plugged in 3 meters away in the lounge.

We have it set to just "ding dong" but every now and then it plays what its wants as though some kids are playing knock-a-door-run with it.

Once it's played what ever tune it wants, the sodding thing wont work. So it has to be turned off at the wall and back on. Grrr......

Are you sure its not a neighbour with the same doorbell operating on the same frequency?

When we had one we had to suffer the
Pompey Chimes every time our neighbours across the road had visitors!

We live in a quiet corner or a cuddly sack. So there are only two other houses and they both have knockers. The end house and us both have WIFI. dunno if that interfers...

Ah yes, the ghostly wireless doorbells.....happens a quite a lot. They pick up interference from nearby sources (flourescent lights?) then lock up. If you have one of the better models you may be able to change the channel, that sometimes helps.

I had one of these but with two sounder one of which I used upstairs as a slave, the problem was that the upstairs one would go off on it's own every now and again but playing a different tune to the one selected. After sodding about with it for about a month I binned it and bought a wired one.
    Chinese junk I suppose

Touch wood, my £3.99 wireless doorbell (from Wilkinsons) doesn't have these problems. :D

We got ours as an internal alarm system as I sleep downstairs and have a bad heart so I've got the part that sticks on the door and the other bit is upstairs to enable me to call for help as my OH is deaf! Ours plays "Oh Susanna, won't you marry me"
and various other tunes. We think it happens if a car alarm has been activated nearby.

Sorry techie people but you would laugh if it happened to you:rotfl:

Ours plays all of the tunes that we haven't selected! Then the thing doesn't work when there IS someone at the door...

I wonder what triggers them I wonder if it was mobile but they use different technology surely cant be other bells in area accept those at close range. I know mine goes off even when the 10+ houses I see in my street no one is at the door, mine doesnt effect next doors and vice versa although I did in old house have a B&Q wireless bell that rang when someone was at next doors house but not vice versa
