Why not a refund?

I dont need anything else right now, plus I am in the process of buying a new bike from another store. So its like I'm being held to ransom by them to purchase something else. Grrrrr!0

Appreciate the frustration but as others have said, the shop are under no legal obligation to do anything at all, so what you have been offered is a bonus although I'm guessing you won't see it like that!
Unfortunately people think that generous returns policies are standard as a few of the larger chain stores have them, but shops can choose to offer what they like, or nothing. Obv this changes if something is faulty/not as described.Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
You could try to appeal nicely to the owner/Manager but it may not work, but otherwise they will not get your custom again.0

Its the same with other shops, your only given a credit note and not a refund for an item that isnt faulty,0

Why? We keep banging on about our rights on this site, surely shops are entitled to stand by theirs too?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Not until I get a proper answer. I believe I'm in the right here so wont name and shame until it has been proven they have done something wrong
You're in the wrong I'm sorry to say. You've got no right to a refund because you've (effectively) changed your mind, if the goods aren't actually faulty then you can't insist they take them back.
The exchange that's on offer is already more than you're legally entitled to and, I'd suggest, a perfectly fair remedy for someone buying an item in the wrong size as you say you did.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I agree with most of Roberto's post. The bit I don't agree with is the last line.
This is not a fair remedy. The trader has done nothing wrong at any stage. You selected and bought an incorrect item. As Roberto points out you have no legal right to anything here, and an exchange / credit note is an extremely decent offer on behalf of the store.
I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but people need to realise that traders are protected by law as well. There is a wealth of consumer legislation in the UK to help consumers with a genuine problem, but it does not cover you for not checking the facts.
If you believe you are in the right then please take this to a small claims court. I only ask that you come back to tell us how long the judge laughs for before dismissing the claim.0 -
What on Earth possessed you to buy a tyre you knew was the wrong size???
Surely you didn't think "it's all they have so it'll do"0 -
