Nurofen/Ibruprofen
I needed to buy some the other day, so went to Boots.
For 16 tablets 200mg strength:
Nurofen was £1.99
Boots Brand was £1.19 but
A brand (or non brand) called Value Health, with just a plain white box. £0.36.
I wnet for that as I knew it would be equally effective, and the person in Boots made a point of confirming this too, as he saw me browsing.
So, if you need any, go for this one.

Even better. I think it shows there are plenty cheap options which many folk will dismiss thinking they are rubbish, when that is not the case.0 -
generic brands (by law) have to be chemically identical to the cheap brands
200mg of branded ibuprofen is identical 200mg of unbranded ibuprofen
the branded stuff comes in pretty boxes, but that's about itLegal team on standby0 -
I buy sainsburys/asda.tesco extra power pain relief at 46p a box rather than anadin extra, exactly the same - paracetamol, aspirin, caffeine. same with cold and flu remedies compare the paracetamol/psedoephedrine content of branded vs non-branded. What drives me mad is brands which charge more for the SAME product but call it a differnt name or give it a different use to increase the price e.g nurofen tension is same as nurofen migraine but one is more expensive than the other despite them both containing ibuprofen lysine0

I always buy generic brand as it is cheaper and the same (as said above). Some of the branded things are identical eg calcough and calnight childrens syrups made be calpol are identical. They try to get you to buy two products thinking you need one for the day and one for at night when they are the same. Always check the ingredients to see what is in the products.0

I agree - but even the cheaper versions can be deceptive. Usually the generic flu remedy (paracetamol and decongestant) is under £1. The "non drowsy" version is £1.50ish. There's no difference - both have the same amount of drugs and caffeine!!
It's only a game

local chemist is cheaper. i buy boxes of 48 for £1.25 (200mg)0

I agree with the ibuprofen, but I find that the own brand cold/flu tablets aren't effective with me, even Day/night nurse isn't effective. The only thing that helps me is Lemsip!0
