Pretty much have all the services with NTL, phoned up to cancel and was offered the following:
Talk 24 unlimited - free for 12 months
Digital base pack - free for 12 months
Broadband - 1/2 price for 6 months ie down to £9.99
Should be around £24 saved per month.
Also, phoned the 0800 number and managed to get them to transfer me so hopefully won't pay for 0870 number,

So how much are you actually paying each month foir thoise 3 £9.99?
I could only manage to get them to give me my offer for 3 months which is
family pack tv
talk unlimited 24
1mb broadband
£20.49
When she looked for me for the same but with base pack it actually came out more for some reason, I think it was £24.49. I would have kept just he base pack and paid same as you if she had got the same deal for me but I still did well thoughI just have to ring back in 3 months, I've put a note on my calendar
Thanx

I did this over a month ago. I am with NTL; had long since cancelled TV and moved to Freeview. I had Talk unlimited 24 at £15.99 per month, and broadband at £17.99 per month (over a year ago I had negotiated a 12 month deal for broadband at £14, which ran out earlier this year. I knew I could save a lot by moving to TalkTalk. I didn't like the idea of the £100 BT installation fee, but was prpeared to take the hit.
However, I finally got round to calling NTL and asked to cancel broaband and phone. They seemed to accept that okay and tapped away at the computer for a few moments, then they asked my why I wanted to cancel. I mentioned being able to get broadband free and they said, "Is that with TalkTalk?" I said it was. After another short pause they said they were passing me to the "disconnection department".
To cut a long story short, they simply offered me free broadband, saving me £17.99 per month and saved the hassle of changing suppliers and paying BT £100, which I was quite happy with. Like others, this is a 6 month deal, and what they do is credit my bb account with 6 month's payments. They said to just call them at the end of 6 months to renew it (I guess it won't be renewed if TalkTalk end their deal).0 -
Any one knows how to disconnect NTL without speaking to Disconnections team. They are only open from 9-5 Monday - Friday, Sadly I can't contact them on these times and they are also closed today on Bank Holiday.0

Was paying £17.99 for 1mb broadband plys £10.50 line rental total £28.49pm
Followed the advice in this forum & rang disconnections & told them i wanted to leave to go to talk talk. I was immediately offered 1MB bb for 9.99 plus free phone calls. Said i would prefer 2MB service as i knew that was increasing to 4MB in June and the 1MB isn't. Was offered 2MB for 12.50 with free phone calls for 12 months. Settled at that! She did say they could only activate it for 3 months, but if o called back that would be no problem just to extend it. I guess I just have to remember!
Cheers for evryone's tips - it really was easy & painfree.0 -
hi
i have my phone with ntl (24.99 unlimited use) and broadband (9.99) til sept (12month deal) but i also have sky+ which id rather cut my arm off than loose.
my contract with sky + is up in oct so i will reduce package then as they wont do it before ( it would work out same money except £10 for more channels)
ive been with ntl for 6years..........my question is....should i haggle with ntl or sky+ or not? will they offer anything and will they do anything before contracts up?
thankscc.£4265.

I have been on cable since 1994 when it was first laid in my street, and recently have been unhappy with the price I was paying knowing of all the deals around. After reading the posts here I was straight on the phone knowing I can get the talk talk package and it would cost nothing to get my existing BT line reconnected.
I made a deal with NTL on 17/5/06,
Family pack+dual movies £35.50, will reduce Fam pack 1/2 = £25.25 (no time limit)
Second STB £15, will make that free = £0 (no time limit)
1mg B/B £17.99, will reduce by £8 = £9.99 (no time limit)
They will give me talk unlimited 24 free for 6 months (I have standard 321).
So without the free talk 24 I would be saving £32.75 a month.
Bill received Sat 27,
1/2 price Fam pack for 6 months only
Second STB still £15
1mg B/B 1/2 price for 3 months only
Talk unlimited 24 free for 3 months only
and to top it all they have charged me £7.01 for part month for the talk U/L 24, needless to say I will be on to them first thing tomorrow, this being bank holiday.
I will keep you posted.0 -
I only saw this thread yesterday and thought I'd give NTL a call. I had to wait until today as yesterday was a bank holiday. The 0800 052 9403 opt 2 number still works by the way.
Anyway; I used to have:
Line rental £10.50
1mb Broadband £17.95
Talk unlimited 24 £14.50
Total: £42.95
(I used to have Talk Unlimited24 until two months ago but switched to an override provider.)
After my pleasant and easy phone call this morning I now have:
Line rental: £10.50
1Mb Broadband £9.99
Talk Unlimited 24: free
Total £20.49
These prices are valid for 6 months, with a promise to do a fresh deal at the end of the period.
So, I'm £22.46 a month better off, for at least 6 months with the prospect of continued savings after that. All for an easy phone call!
Thank you so much for this thread. Isn't this web site brilliant??0 -
I'll be glad when I get my first new deal bills because if I've got the same as mickeypops but have the familypack tv aswell for £20.49 it still makes me think theres been a mistake somewhere but its what they have told me for sure I'm paying but I'll wait and see but if it ends up that theres extra charges on top I will complainThanx

Rachel at the Coventry NTL centre just reduced my outgoings by £120.
Was on 1meg BB, Base pack TV and basic 321 phone rental. cost of 39.49 per month.
Reduced to £31 with a £12 goodwill credit, valid for the next 12 months. Not bad for 20 minutes on the phone !!
thanx guys, will spread the word about this site ...0
