There's no reason why UK-based companies with UK customers should use overseas call centres IMO. If they can't afford a decent, UK-based call centre then they aren't charging enough, basically. IME paying slightly less with a company that expects you to receive very bad CS from someone who's first language isn't the same as yours can be a false economy.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

Especially as companies who cut corners in this way always also make more stupid mistakes that you then have to get them to put right by calling customer services in India and they usually also ignore any attempts to email them about the problem.............0 -

Totally agree, before I sign up with any company I do a background check, I am paying for a service, so I expect good service as a priority, if that costs a little more, so be it.
It is far better IMO than all of the hassle that we read about on here every day.0 -

Presumably Heinz it still works for those who only want to transfer an existing phone line from TalkTalk etc. Not many customers of Post Office HomePhone will be ordering a brand new physical phone line connection.;)
Just checked and it works fine for transferring an existing line and phone number from TalkTalk, Sky, BT etc.0 -

I was told you cant migrate from talktalk to post office if you are on a talktalk exchange which is my current situation.Suited me anyway as i dont want any break in service in broadband ( 13yo son plays call of duty on xbox 360 almost 24/7!--well seems like it) and i also wanted a new phone number ,a service talktalk dont offer! NonGeographicalMan I found out today that some Derry Jobs( my home town) are being transferred to Newcastle which will now be the only call centre but bulk of jobs in Derry will be lost, i have just signed up to post office phone and broadband this evening via phone and using a referral.Friendly bunch the geordies
I should say i will not be cancelling talktalk until i have post office broadband up and running, hence limiting any disruption.timing should be good as my talktalk contract ends 28th August0 -

I presume this means taking the 0845 contact phone number off their website except on some remote page and encouraging people to use the FAQs and/or to email in any queries to them then. As to Northern Irish call centres some of the best BT ones ever were in Northern Ireland in my experience (BT pays a high wage by NI standards or at least did when I am talking about 10 years back before the Indian BT call centres) but where NI is used for cost cutting reasons and former street sweepers or Macdonalds workers employed then the knowledge of the staff is inevitably poor. Also where a call centre is in NI senior management often seem to visit less often than if it is anywhere in England. Hence the workers then feel remote and unempowered.I should say i will not be cancelling talktalk until i have post office broadband up and running, hence limiting any disruption.timing should be good as my talktalk contract ends 28th August
So how much are Post Office Homephone charging for installing a brand new physical phone line if that is the way you are doing it and it is cheaper than BT's charges for taking back a TalkTalk line?0 -

£107.66 inc vat minus further £10 for referral for new line installation (new phone number) with Post Office.I liked the idea of a one month contract and free monthly itemised paper bill.(in 18 months i was never once able to access talktalk billing online). Also the no connection charge on their broadband was welcome.I wasnt impressed by the BT free connection offer with its many conditions, not least it wasnt exactly free as i believe from another thread on here you have to actually pay BT the £122 upfront then receive a credit on your bill each quarter. If i had gone the route of talktalk to BT i would have been without Broadband for 2 weeks maybe more and that was never an option0 -
Northern_Rock wrote: »who can help with a post office referral? £10 each is that right? need to leave talktalk asap! what details do i need for referral plz? hoping to sign up today
ps the post office call centre in Derry( part of stream) is closing end of october i believe--330 jobs gone, not sure where support will be now.
Hi
How does the referral work please? I can't find any information online and I can't sign up online via a cashback site as I haven't got a phone number yet.
Is it just for home phone + broadband or does it work for home phone only?
Many thanks0 -
