Orange PAYG Problem
Yesterday I bought a Nokia 1661 phone from the Orange shop because my contract phone with O2 was broken (I didn't want to pay the excess and thought that a new phone plus Orange sim would be good for Orange Wednesdays etc).
I made it very clear to the sales assistant that I wanted to unlock my phone from the off, as I still have a contract with O2 and have previously had a bad experience with Orange (I even asked him how much it'd cost to get it unlocked with them!) and he told me it was fine, to ring Orange and it'd cost me £20 or to go to a market stall where it would be loads cheaper.
I followed Martin's guide and tried those avenues but found that no one could do it so reluctantly rung Orange. They told me I had to be with them for 3 months before unlocking, which is not what the sales assistant said.
Now, having rung Orange off my new phone in ignorance thinking that unlocking it would be easy, I've used the phone. I feel the sales assistant was extremely misleading and I wouldn't have bought it if I'd know what I know.
Does the SOGA cover me for a misleading sale? Does anyone have any advice?
