Suncream for babies

My dd (3 now) has eczema, and I've tried loads over the last 3 years to find one that doesn't cause a flare up!
They're all pretty thick and gloopy to be honest. We use the Boots Soltan ones. They also do a roll on version which was great and not so thick.0 -
I was told by a dermatologist that you should never use factor 50 on a baby as it doesn't allow their skin to breathe enough. I use factor 30 on ours, the spray-on Boots own brand, and their skin is fine in the sun. Not that we have had much sun though!0

I put suncream on my 5yo (Avons child spray, it was on offer) if we're going to be out in the sun for any length of time. But I don't with the baby, when she's in the pram she's well shaded and I hang a white blanket from the hood if the sun is directly on her... While she doesn't moved anywhere I don't think there's any need to cover her in cream...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I didn't use any suncream on DD until this spring (10 months), as she was born in June last year so all summer while we were out and about I would just hang a blanket over the pram so she would be out of the sun anyway. I never found it a problem TBH, I naturally seek shade if I'm going to be sitting down etc as although I love the warm weather I burn easily even with cream on. So if I were sitting down to feed her or change her then I would find shade. A muslin works well as you can cover a stray leg peeking out in the sun or cover their head if you are holding them.
It's prob just me but I would worry about needlessly applying sun cream on a tiny baby as their skin is so sensitive and there are so many chemicals in it, for the same reason I refuse to use johnson and the like on DD even now. I use Lavera natural mineral suncream on my DD as it has no petrochemicals in it. It is factor 40 and although looks very white on the skin, leaves no marks or stains on clothes, just goes to a chalky consistency and rubs off.
I didn't use bubble bath or shampoo etc until DD was about 8 months old, just plain water for the same reasons.
Reading this back I sound as though I'm being snooty, which I don't intend at all, I am only saying what I personally think and have found with my LO.0 -
Thanks for all the advice guys. Common sense prevails and a tidgey bit of sun can be avoided with clothes etc as opposed to all those nasty chemicals on sensitive skin!
