Really unhappy with O2 PAYG
I am having problems with my PAYG and am looking for a bit of advice.
I bought an iphone 3gs on PAYG last month, re-set it from Talkalot to O2 Unlimited as all my friends are on O2 and we text rather than calling, so unlimited free texts between O2 numbers is perfect. Made sure I topped up before my anniversary, so I made sure I would still get the allowance. Have been getting the allowance since then and then this morning I find I am all of a sudden being charged for my texts! Called up the tariff line and it said 'O2 Unlimited', then I checked online and it says the following 'PAY & GO - TALKALOT Inclusive Allowance giving unlimited O2 to O2 voice minutes and unlimited O2 to O2 messaging units', not the O2 unlimited I am meant to be on, but still says unlimited O2 message units which I am not getting! So called them up to ask what was going on, only to be told that since I topped up on the 12th I hadn't topped up before my anniversary and would lose my allowance for the month, fair do's. Asked the bloke when I would get my allowance back, only to be told that I would have to wait until 12th Sept, or I could top up £15 and get free texts and calls, but again I would have to wait until 12th Sept to get them. Not exactly the best advice in the world. Plus the bloke was just clearly sticking to a script. Anyway, came off the call and checked my texts, I had a text from O2 on the 12th telling me to top up today to make sure I got my allowance for the month! I called back and questioned this with another bloke, only to be told that no, that wasn't the case, okay whatever, but then when I questioned why I had been getting the allowance since I topped up and why it had suddenly stopped this morning, only to get the reply 'You shouldn't have been getting it anyway.' that was the only answer he could give me. I then questioned the Talkalot it mentions on my account online, with the unlimited texts and calls and again he couldn't answer me. I then requested to speak to a manager as I wasn't going to get a proper answer, so I am currently waiting for a call back.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? If so, what happened? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hi
You should only use a Payg locked o2 iphone with the payg iphone tariff sim card .( well thats what o2 want )
But you could try
O2 Simplicity sim only deals choose a plan with a free data bolt on
or jailbreak and unlockthen you can use another network like the
t-mobile solo sim only deals choose a plan with free data
Also together with the above use skype with a my country plan
this will give you free unlimited UK landline calls for around £3
per month.
hope this helps0 -

I am using it with the sim card I got when I bought the phone, it's the Tariff that's been the problem, not the sim or the phone. You are originally set up for Talkalotmore, but online you can change your tariff to whatever suits you best, which is what I did. I am not interested in getting another sim or jailbreaking as otherwise I am happy with them, just wish they would get their facts straight.
Oh yes and just to update, I am still waiting on the manager to call...some 'couple of hours' wouldn't like to be holding my breath.Consumer Pulse - £140 Debenhams & £20 HMV vouchers - so far.Lightspeed panels - £130 Paypal so far!Ipsos Panels - £20 Boots vouchers - so far!Valued Opinions - £10 Amazon voucher - so far!:T0
