    Hi Rach

Let us know when you find the tongs and things, the scoops iv found on ebay are to big for what i need, they're like the big pick and mix scoops. My dishes aren't that big and one scoop with one of those scoops and everything will be gone lol. I think little tongs might be better for us.

I had a kind of brainwave about this......LOL... I wondered if instead of scoops I could use 'measuring cups' cos they're not bad sizes and you get 5 in a pack? I've seen them somewhere in bright colours either B&M or the poundshop... or in stainless steel.
I don't want big scoops either, but was struggling to find small ones... haven't looked for tongs yet but will let you know when I find some...... have just had a quick look on ebay, and if you do a search for ice tongs or sugar tongs there are plenty to choose from & they should be a resonable size I think.

Thank you so much for this link! I want a sweety bar for my husbands 40th with all 'retro' sweeties, and was having trouble finding pics on how best to display them. Thanks again :-)
hey there's no money but we couldn't be happier if we tried
    £2 coin pot - £92!
  • oh im having one too...yum yum yum
im like a big kid when it comes to sweets so there was no way i wasnt having on elol

so far i have most of my bowls and jars and things
got some proper sweetie jars from tesco £1 each
then got some deep plates in brown and cream (my colour scheme) these were I think 75p each
and got some tall dark brown vases from tesco sale for £1.40 each (reduced from like £10)

have found a few wholesale sweet places online to use to get the sweets :)
and we are planning on having a sort of retro theme......all the sweets we remember from when we were kids :)
    Married on 5th March 2010
still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:
  • We have just today decided to do this as well-we found old style sweetie jars in the 99p shop :D. Also using a couple of knickerbocker glory glasses my mum already has and gonna be looking out for vases and bowls, esp after christmas. FOr anyone looking to buy wholesale sweets, be careful. Look at the price per 100g-asda smartprice and sainsbury's basics etc have dolly mixtures and midget gems etc for 30p per bag-working out at 16p per 100g!!!

    We're having one.

Already have the paper bags, tongs and I've got scoops on their way.

Have 'sweet love' in wooden letters on their way too. (Also have 'is' coming with those, so I could have 'love is sweet' but I haven't made my mind up yet)

I'm going to hit Ikea and TKMaxx for bowls and vases etc

Going to get the sweets from either Bookers or Makro.

    That's about it!!

Oh and the Asda Dolly mixtures are ace. Will definitely be buying a heap of those.

  • HI Shellsuit

Where did you get your wooden letters from, I wanted to the have LOVE letter plates but they are about £25 which is a lot to spend and I like the idea of the wooden letters.

    Thanks Chris xx

OK It's these, the seller does have more words in other listings...I'm gonna paint these with some pink glitter paints.

BUT I did also see these Cath Kidston inspired letters which are gorgeous, but it was cheaper for me to buy the words instead of all seperate letters...
