    ...was it a farce because they didn't serve tea? :rotfl:

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    i wish. It was a registry office job, lasted an hour and no drinks etc at all!

    but it was mostly a farce because they didn't know each other are not together anymore, and he is really bad for her. Everytime she sees him you know because she calls me and tells me how horrible that i am and that i'm trying to 'rip her off' or that im 'a terrible parent' or 'she wishes she'd put me in care because i ruined her life' :rolleyes:

  • My OH and I ( as part of the meal we have chosen ) have tea/coffee/mints served after the meal. BUT to save money, we are only buying a lowest priced drinks package per person ( thats a glass of Bucks Fizz on arrival, red or white with the meal, and a glass of bubbly wine for the toast )

    If anyone wants to moan or complain about that then they will be shown the door. we are scrimping and saving to pay for our wedding, the way we want it.

  • What does PMSL mean?

    We're not even having a 'wedding breakfast'! No waiters, just a buffet, and no tea or coffee either! (Our poor guests, what will they think of us...:rolleyes:)

    I don't bother with the hot drinks usually - I don't drink coffee and I never enjoy the tea (altho I am a tea monster the rest of the time!) and I'm usually well on my merry way by then so prefer to have a glass of wine!! We had tea and coffee served at our wedding and I didn't even bother there!

    Went to a wedding recently where coffee was served after the meal but no tea. scandalous :)

    going back to the OP's post - tbh if the friends and family are having a meal laid on for them I think they're being very petty complaining about not having a cup of tea or coffee! You don't know what other treats have been lined up for them instead. At the wedding mentioned above they had a local ice cream man with a cart and we all got a cone with a flavour of our choice. Much much better than a cup of tea imo!!!

    Sitting with people you don't know is no big deal, you only need to sit with them during the meal and after that you can mingle. They are probably thinking the same too - that they have been stuck with people they don't know. Far better to speak and engage with strangers because you never know you might just have something in common and could possibly become good friends. If you go with a closed mind then you won't enjoy anything.

    I can understand brides not ordering tea or coffee because very often the tea is too weak and the coffee is rank and gets left anyway. If you really want a cup of tea then I am sure that if you ask the waiter/waitress nicely they will get you one and you pay for it. To proclaim that you intend parading around with the cup of tea bemoaning the fact that you had to buy your own demonstrates that you are ill-mannered:rolleyes:

    Remember when you decide to marry your girlfriend - you can serve coffee and tea for every single course if you so wish:D Just think of the money you would save:rotfl:

    Ok we got a cup of coffer, hurrah.

    Apparently the mother of the groom phoned the venue in the morning and asked for it. Was good coffee too.

    Though my GF's grandmother (and Grandmother of the groom) wanted a cup of tea so another grandchild went to ask for one, and in effect had to make it herself in the staff room, it was free though.

    Day was quite pleasant on the whole and the Bride and Groom were happy.

    Glad you had a good day Dave and thanks for your thread, it made me smile and was certainly controversial.

    God I hope I haven't used an apostrophe in the wrong place lol!!
