Not getting tea or coffee!

I do like to have a cup of tea/coffee after a meal, but wouldn't be too put out if it wasn't offered.
My parents took my Nan to my cousins wedding a few years back (we didn't go) and my Nan said she fancied a cup of tea, so they ordered one from the bar and was quite shocked when 3 teas cost £8.00!! :eek:
The reception was at a really posh hotel by the Birmingham NEC (can't remember the name). My cousin and her husband are always pretending to be something they're not, which is one of the reasons why we didn't go.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £17,496.340 -
I think that some people have misinterpreted the tone of my original message. Like I said in a subsequent post:davetrousers wrote: »It's not my family so I'm not bothered but I can tell you that a lot of the "family" seem perturbed by not getting a cup of tea.
Note I am not being judgmental about this as some of you seem to think, I am not really bothered. Only really posted this to get an idea on what people thought......0 -

...Imagine how much the bride and groom must've paid for the meal, champagne, buffet per head;
...Imagine how many months/years it has taken for them to save up all that money to make sure your tummy is filled with delicious, top-notch plates of food;
...Imagine the money they've spent on a nice venue, flowers, dress, table decorations etc to make the guests feel special and privileged;
...Imagine the expense of providing the evening entertainment - ensuring all their guests are comfortable and happy.
....then someone has the cheek to moan about having to spend a measly £8 on a few cups of tea. If you moaned at my wedding, you would be out the door, my friend.Profit=sanity

Thanks for that. As I said in my original post I didn't go to the wedding, I just heard about it afterwards.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £17,496.340 -
I have never been to wedding or a funeral. Its almost like the people have thought 'its a formal occasion so she's not going'
Not sure what i did to deserve that though
and I wouldn't go around moaning about coffee either!:DMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Isn't the point that all weddings are different - they are what the bride and groom choose.
Some weddings will have everything laid on - others maybe don't because its not possible or the B&G have chosen to not pay for it.
In this case maybe instead of the £1 or £2 per head it would cost for tea/coffee they've chosen something else that they feel is more important.
If all weddings were the same and we were given the same kind of day/entertainment/food/drink wouldn't life be just a bit more boring!
Equally B&G's shouldn't be overly sensitive that guests will comment on the choices they've made - some will be approvals but not everything will be to their liking - unless its done nastily then its just someone giving an opinion and people are free to do it...
The £8 for 3 teas made me chuckle - if you have family and friends that don't move in circles where they are used to paying that sort of price, then of course its gonna be a surprise to them. Went to one wedding last year where average drink was about £8 because the venue was so posh. Bride and groom spent a fortune - everything about the place was fantastic - but no one was drinking after the meal and without the lubrication of alcohol it just stayed a bit flat and the party never got going...0 -

That's an interesting thought.
Should have smuggled a bottle of vodka in, lol!.....0 -

No I don't!
I had to miss my beloved grandads funeral when i was 18 as my dad (who last saw me when i was 4) would be there and it 'would have stopped it being about grandad', but that was my northern side of the family.
but everything from my family here i've just been missed from.
tell a lie, i got invited when my mum married a muppet she had known for 6 weeks, but that was a farce, rather than a wedding :rolleyes:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
