FT - (Auctions) Fears of fresh house price weakness

Harry, it's not that interesting. A poster who left before you came along. End of.
Actually DD was around when I joined. I even PM'd him about his views on buying a house now with a fixed rate mortgage and received a really nice and detailed reply.
Seems to me that a lot of people on here like to throw baseless accusations around yet refuse to back them up. Cowardly really, but more fool the people who just follow along blindly without asking for proof. I am the seeker of truth and justice and will always ask people to verify their statements. That they choose not to answer tells it's own tale...."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. Sorry, did a quick search and can't find anything. Perhaps I've imagined it, or got the wrong poster.
Whilst searching I did come across one amusing post though.... given DD's last post....Dithering_Dad wrote: »Goodness me, if a few comments from an anonymous internet forum user upset you so much that you have to (dramatically) announce that you're leaving a forum then one can only reach the conclusion that you should probably shouldn't use internet forums in the first place0 -

Perhaps you imagine other things or get the wrong poster when you make accusations of sock puppetry, etc? Don't you think you should be sure of your facts before you start throwing !!!!!! around because some of it sticks?
From what I remember, DD left because of the unchecked anti-immigration and racism on this particular board, and as a result of his last post some of the worst offenders were subsequently PPrd. He was also being hassled by a posse of females led by the Board Guide for this particular board.
I agree with your point though, it should be remembered that this is just a forum, pity DD got too involved because some of his posts were excellent. I never understood why he was so roundly set upon on this board, his posts seemed to be pretty balanced and well thought through and I received a really polite and detailed PM from him when I asked him a question about interest rates.
I assume though there was some history before I joined?

I wonder if DD moved his pension funds back into the market, I think he moved 100% cash last time I remember, he did have a go at the Lloyds shares which will have been a nice little earner.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
As they say, a fool and his money are soon parted. Here is macaques fools classification chart.
Class 1. fool
People buying in anticipation of making money
Class 2. fool
People buying in anticipation of getting their money back
Class 3. fool
People hanging on to second homes in anticipation of the market recovering
People who are buying purely for the purpose of having a roof over their heads are not fools. That is what money is for.
Ironically, class 3 fools are creating a transient tight market and by doing so are giving hope to classes 1, 2 and 3 fools (a suckers rally).
Bottom line?
House prices went up the cliff in a speculative frenzy. Even in the good times however, salaries could never support today's house prices. In a climate of rising unemployment and incomes there is only one long term direction for house prices.
The current market is being exploited by the lenders to get high risk debt off their books.0 -
Class 4. fool
People waiting for average house prices to drop 50% before buying0 -
Class 5. fool
Anyone deluded enough to believe 70% falls are remotely possible.
Actually, that's beyond a fool, that's the clinical definition of insane.
The best part of the recovery will be watching the slow, sickening, realisation that fools like this will endure as prices inevitably rise, crushing the last vestiges of hope for them slowly and surely, and guaranteeing a lifetime doomed to rent slavery as they miss the bottom by years. And all because they listened to some other fool on the internet who told them 70% falls were possible and this was just a "bulltrap".
Happy days are ahead for sure.....:D“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
-- President John F. Kennedy”0
