FT - (Auctions) Fears of fresh house price weakness

a lot of people seemed to have been PPR'd this week, Brodders was PPR'd on his main logon and assorted SockPuppetMaster style logons. Nice to see to be honest, it's certainly helping to make this board more informative again without all the sniping and stupid comments where people think they're being 'hilarious' when in fact they're being irritating.
Roll on decent discussions and debates, such as those on the Investments and the pensions boards.

is PPR a temporary or permanent thing? is that where dithering dad went??plus ça change........0

PPR is a permanent ban from what I can make out. You can tell if someone has been banned because they have the letters PPR under their username, such as this joker (another brodderick puppet):

I just checked dithering dad and he doesn't have PPR on his name so I assume that he's not been banned?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. That's right PPR is permanent.
DD isn't banned but signed off in his last post saying he wasn't coming back. He'd done that before but then also returned before. I suspect he realised you can only do that so many times before you lose all credibility.
He did post under DD2 for a while (updating his MFiT challenge via that name) but that seems to be PPR'ed now.
Perhaps he's now posting under another name?0 -

Interesting, when did he do this?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -
“It suggests investors are getting a bit wary,” said Mr Brigden.
Who are these investors? Where is the capital to purchase the property?
A lot of people got bitten at auctions. Its ok for professionals, such as builders, surveyors and people contacted to the building trade to take these properties on.
For investors though. Would you spend a £1,000 having a property thoroughly checked over prior to making a bid? Even though you may not win the property at auction. Alternatively handing over your 10% deposit only to find that the property has a structural fault or other issues. Many did.
Like cars at car auctions you have to know what you are doing. The price reflects risk and the work to be done to be bring the item up to standard. For a house you need to factor in all the costs of buying /selling etc, and cost of borrowing the finance.0 -

Depends what shares you are invested in.
( PS the constituents in the indexes change every quarter so the indexes themselves are only really useful as a benchmark).
If you held BP shares for the past 15 years and reinvested the dividend income back into the shares. You would have exceeded the return on property by a considerable margin.
