They are great company Pooky. Have you got one of each?

Are your beans ready? Ours still have a week or 2 to go apparently

Mine are both girls - chalk and cheese though.

Our beans are coming to an end now - I planted 12 plants and we've had over 20 kilos of beans so far....probably another 5 to go if we're lucky...the advantage of living down here is we do tend to get milder weather.

Ive had so many beans too pooky. Do you freeze any of yours? Not sure what I would need to do to freeze them as there is no way I can eat them all and don't want to waste them

  • Sally - this sounds realy silly but I react really badly to bites. Elephant ankles etc. I have found that creams, sprays applied after make them even worse. The only things that work for me are oral anti-histamines. Piriton, allergeze or cheaper equivalents.

Ahh right, 1 have one of each - one hormonal girl in the house is plenty

I'm looking forward to harvesting our beans - I love the red runner bean flowers though. Our butternut squash just had female flowers on Monday. DH got his paintbrush out to pollinate, and we now have 3 squash growing really quickly :D

Friend's 18 year old daughter is going into the RAF in Jan. Decided that she was going to Australia on a student hostely thing. Flew out today and gets back Nov 1st. Friend is in shreds. Took her out shopping today to take mind off it and then we came back with a M&S lunch (tut) and downed a couple of bottles of vino on the deck.
I've know the daughter since she was 1 of my Brownies and am so proud of her. But I'm not her mother!

You just need to blanche them before freezing - just cut them up as you normally would and pop a handfull at a time into boiling water for 2 mins - straight into cold water to stop them cooking and pop them in freezer bags in portion sizes. I've got a whole freezer drawer full!

One of OH's tomata plants died. Don't think it recovered after falling into the river (yes, there's a river behind my house and the big pot fell off the wall when it was windy - I'm reckoning it was a night OH had kebab or curry)
