    Here's some Maths....

The base rate is 0.5% yet the lowest FTB mortgage is around 6% unless you have at least a 25% deposit -which is extremely unlikey. I make that interest rate 12 times the base rate. Cheap credit? Missed boat?
I think I'll just rent our somewhere that costs much less than to buy, save my money and have a beer. cheers

I am I missing something here or was that my point?
Those that didn't secure deals whilst they were cheap missed the boat.

What it the average IQ of a bear?
But Bluey, what if rates were to get cheaper? Then you could have pre ejaculated yourself. I believe Japan has had negative interest rates for thirty years now with very little effect.

On the IQ front. I don't think there would be much difference if we did a scientific test on bull or bears brains. However bears don't tend to keep them in their trousers.

Agreed, where as I believe mortgages were only really cheap for a few years between 2 and 5 years ago...others tell me they're still cheap now -and always have been! "In 1991 the rate was 300% etc....."

I am talking more-so in terms of the BOE tracked rate. There were many mortgages available at less than BOE+0.5% above. I don't think we're going to go back to this position anytime soon.

On the Brain front. Given women say all men's brains are in their trousers... where are a male bears and a female bulls?

I don't really understand this, how cheap credit is is based on one thing, the %, it makes no difference if the base rate is low.

If the base rate was 5.9% and you were paying 6% does that make your credit cheaper than in the example above?

    6% is cheap.

Might I take this opportunity to welcome Mr. Sock to the forum. I was fed up with sock puppets two days ago, and then I missed them.

    thanks for the welcome,
P.S. what happened to that very distinguished poster, mr broderick? I've always enjoyed reading his erudite and witty contributions to the forum.
I'm not I recognise Mr. B from that description. But as you are new I had better explain. He pushed the forum rules to the absolute limit and beyond on a number of occasions. And something must've snapped at Mod Tower.

Funny thing is that one of his catchphrases was where's Nelly - and I used to think Nelly was a poster who had moved on. Until someone resurrected one of Mr. B's finest threads... and there was Nelly... ppr'd.

Yes, I heard he (literally) put the willies up the moderators, and they didn't like it very much. They weren't so cocksure any longer after he put them straight
How long are you expecting to stay on this board?
  • The biological ticks relentlessly. The option of building a nest today may need comparing with never building a nest. If the time is right for you, it could be better to build your nest now even if it might be cheaper next year (or the year after) (or the year after) (or the year after).

HPCers got the timing of the crash wrong for years. My money is on them getting the timing of the turn wrong too.
