Need Advice with Dress problem

Hi all, need a bit of advice,
I bought a designer dress in Coast (Debenhams). It cost £90, down from £140ish in the sale.
I wore it once to an outdoor wedding and it has got water damage on it! By that I mean, water actually stained the dress - even under my armpits where I must have sweated a little.:p
I read the label and it says 'dry clean only' and 'colour may transfer when wet'.
I left it in at the dry cleaners and am going to pick it up tomorrow, but the girl in the dry cleaners said the water stains mightn't come out??!
If I had have known that rain water could damage the dress in this way I wouldnt have bought it, obviously we live in northern ireland and it was for an outdoor wedding:p
I have also lost my receipt but could find the purchase on my bank statement I'm sure.
If the stains do not come out does anyone know what my rights are, as I will be taking it back to the shop (not looking forward to it).!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you would have any rights, surely thats the same as me staining a top with something and then taking it back because it wouldn't wash outFinally, I can see you crystal clear0

I would say that the combination of the lack of receipt and the fact that it was in the sale negates your rights unfortunately. Appalling that it would stain with water only though...you could try writing/e-mailing Coast/Debenhams with photos and see what they do. You might get a 'token of good will'.0

I don't think it's unusual for a drycleaner to warn stains wont come out.Is the dress some kind of silk fabric? See what happens (perspiration is a bit more than water surely?).If it doesn't come out,you could take your statement as proof of purchase, which is all you legally require, and give it a try.Make sure you find out the Managers name and go on a day she is in.0

Many of Coast's items are not suitable to be worn out in the rain, as it can ruin the material. This is why they need to be DRY cleaned...
Sweat isn't just water either! It contains sodium, potassium, calcium etc... and salt water would definitely mark things!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
thats all mad peeps!
im just gonna stick to Primark in future!
Due to pick the dress up today, will let you know what happens!
I guess I have learned a valuable lesson from all this - read the label and sometimes designer clothing is not suitable..... !!!Groceries challenge

Come on now.
You can't seriously think you may have rights here.
1. Dresses are not 'meant' to be worn outside in the rain.
2. Sweat stains (urghhh), are not a reason to return an item.0 -
