    Ive got someone to move my bathroom to another part of house which includes buidling studded wall etc, electrics, all pipework in place to new room, the bathroom suite and tiles for floor and wall etc, shower, all put in etc for just under 1500

    6mm ply will be good enough provided the sub-floor is in good nick. As this is being replaced it wont be a problem. 18mm is overkill IMO
    If unsure of the above then 9mm will definitely be fine

    British Standards state 18mm when overboarding, 6mm hardibacker is enough or you could tile directly onto chipboard if using Bal Fastflex but this is £40 a bag!

    6mm ply....Might as well not bother as its going to crack!

    Its not just BS

    Contact Mapei or Bal, Your warranty will be null and void of the prep work is not to standard

    We install kitchens and bathrooms and have done plenty of remedial work caused by the cowboys laying tiles on unsuitably prep`d substrates

    Id put money on it you would prime with PVA!
