I know you've received some useful advice from here, but considering the state of your finances, do you REALLY need a PC with a (broadband) internet connection?
Whilst it needs to be cheap (and the SOA will really help people to help the OP) I would say that internet access is essential to save money, even if it is just be a regular member of the debt free wannabe board and the support it provides!
Otherwise I genuinely believe that having internet access at home saves me more money than it costs me each month not least because I have easy access to this site, but every major purchase can be reviewed and compared to find cheaper.
Sky is a real luxury. We could afford it but we have a £78 freeview box that records all the tv we aren't around to watch - that's four months of a basic Sky subscription. And if you cancel the sky contract, you'll still get the freeview channels. There's no way I'd pay for more channels than I can already watch!
Jowo, babies are quite cheap. Presumably there is a £500 maternity grant in the equation here also which could help pay the rent but I worked out my DS to cost me £12 a week when he was tiny - he was bottle fed. DD would have been cheaper but she had disposable nappies so a real nappy baby will be even cheaper! Some councils give you cashback when you buy real nappies - worth looking into! Or ebay is a great source of nappies too.
Glad to see you kicking into action OP - I am sure that being able to pay off a lump sum of some kind, plus going to that court date, baby or no baby will really help you. Please do go to the debt free wannabe board and start addressing these issues - we've already managed to highlight one area in which you can cut down and I am sure, if you are a new moneysaver that there are many more, some of which won't hurt one bit. This is a great community and you will find real help and support from people in similar situations working to make things better, and those who have already got there!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

have done a thread but cant post links! I think we be screwed!
Im going to advertise the car later, also have a clear out and do a boot sale!
That all sounds very positive!!
I have linked this thread to the other on the Debt-free Wannabe board for you, just try not to stress too much as you have come to the best place. You will get a ton of advice and support over the next couple of days - if your thread falls off the front couple of pages just 'bump' it back up to the top.

Sky, car, broadband - all rather unnecessary when extensive rent arrears (6 months worth, don't forget) means eviction is potentially looming. If the local library provides internet access for free,it's time to cancel the subscription.0 -
I understand the sky thing and we do ahve a freeview box so thats easyily gone!
as for interent we have an all in one internet and phone package, for us 22 a month is cheap for both, as we get free calls with this deal, were as when we were with BT they wanted 15 landline then the internet costs then the costs of the calls!
Our phone line is essential to us, as I dont use a mobile phone! When I go into labour I will need to get in touch with my hubby
he works full time, but its only a supermarket so its low wage, he does look for other work but with the current job climate you can understand its not easy esp livin in cornwall!
I dont work have never had the chance, I have thought about homeworking but would be unsure were to start looking for a reputable company!
like said the car is going, its not the best but it will give us something, I was told its not costing us anything sat if its just sat there..yes it is its costing us insurance, and me drivin lessons whcih I dont really need at mo!
firefox thanks for that I was unsure about posting, fear of being judged, but a) I dont feel like that which is good b) even if I was I dont care coz I need help & advice!
I dont know about the £500 grant, will look into it!
thanks again0 -

The OP has already said that she is looking to cancel Sky and sell the car - I agree with Doozergirl my broadband connection (£15 a month) more than pays for itself in doing online surveys, cashback sites, legal and financial advice from this website, tip offs on bargains and voucher codes. :money: All baby stuff can be bought and sold on eBay and Freecycle: it's unfair to take a newborn to the library for any length of time and possibly expensive in travel costs once the OP doesn't have a car.
