Principle Abandoned - that will be the sum you actually spent on the card.
The rest will be the interest and charges on the account.

The Abandoned bit will be basically - bad debt.

I'd send them a letter saying that and that they have had all the information, as it was enough to send you the statements, include a copy of your original letter, and tell them if you receive nothing in 14 days you will take the complaint to the information commissioners office. Remind them the debt is entirely in dispute and that under the OFT 664 Debt Collection guidelines and the banking code they shouldn't take any enforcement action until the dispute is resolved.

Other than that I wouldnt worry too much about the conversations, will have been some numpty promising the earth to get his resolve rate for the day up.

If you had PPI you can try reclaim this if you think it may have been missold, the charges you can reclaim and any interest on those charges. You would reclaim these from Halifax directly. Then yes, pay capquest (or halifax will directly), you also want to check that capquest havent added charges on.

Whats the position with H L Legal now?

H L Legal havent contacted me since I told Capquest the matter was in dispute. I have a copy of my credit card contract and the Credit Card reypayment insurance and Halifax Card protection boxes were already ticked. I didnt notice this at the time and just signed for it, would this count as missold?
