Sned one off-peak text to another Virgin number every 179 days on Virgin; it costs 3p.

I think virgin is 365 days. I know I have definitely gone close to a year without usage and the thing still works. I have heard of folks going even longer between usage. However, to be on the safe side, just send a text or use gprs every 180 days or so.

Does calling 453 on Orange keep your phone active? Or do you have to dial a number and have it answered?

    Thanks.

It has to be a chargeable 'event'. I think 453 is free. Just text yourself once very 4 to 5 months. I know people who just put a reminder in the phones calender to do it...
