And bring an umbrella and coat as its forecast to be heavy rain tomorrow
  • I think the car parking at the Oddysey is only for disabled drivers, park and ride is best option.. www.gotobelfast.com gives full details..

Went today and had a fab afternoon. Parked at Dargan Rd park n ride and thought it was very well organised.
Loads to see and do and a great buzz about the place but one complaint...the prices for the rides (bumper cars/carousel etc) are far too expensive. I felt sorry for anyone with more than one kid.

What area did you all go to? Was thinking of just staying on the Odyssey side?
  • Just listening to the radio on the way to work this morning.... my god there are a lot of "Glass Half Empty" sort of people living around Belfast....... can't they just be happy that such an event is being staged in our capital city???? moan, moan, moan.... so what there was a bit of a traffic issue.... get over it..

I'd love to go but working and they're setting of on Sunday... mind you might take a drive up to cave hill and watch them set of on Sunday instead, that'd be a sight !!

Yes there's a bit of extra traffic, but it's a great event for Belfast and should be welcomed by everyone. It's a long time since I saw the city centre as busy and we should glad of the extra money coming in.

Personally I'm not keen on fighting through crowds so we probably won't go to the event, but we'll definitely be parked up somewhere around Belfast lough to watch them sail out, it's a marvellous sight and well worth making the effort to see.

I went to the Clarendon Dock side yesterday and most of the bigger ships seemed to be on that side. There is also plenty of entertainment and beer tents, food stalls etc. Taxi driver informed us that there was more entertainment on the Odyssey side but as my dad was more interested in seeing the ships, we went to Clarendon Dock.

Can you walk round all the docks? or do you need to drive to different parts of the city? How much are the rides? we are going tomorrow for the Guinness Book record for the most pirates. Where is Queen's Quay as thats where the registration is for it? Are the quays signposted? Thanks

The Odyssey is on the other side of the river from the Clarendon dock. You can walk around via the weir footbridge which I reckon would take 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, there are shuttle buses operating between the two sites. Sorry, don't know anything about the pirates attempt or how much the rides cost.
