"The Mobile Phone Company"

I received a call from someone claiming to be from "The mobile phone company". He said it in such a way to make me think he was calling from my provider, 3.

He was trying to get me to take my upgrade. I have had no contact with this company before and am wondering how he got my details.

I asked him if I had ever engaged with them before and he tried to avoid the question by asking me one back "Well how would we know your details if you hadn't?".

I asked for his full details and he provided:

The Mobile Phone Company
11 Croft Court
Plumpton Close
White Hills Business Park
Blackpool
FY4 5PR

He phoned from the phone number 07891 174 324.


What are your opinions? Cowboys? Legit?

I have tried to do an address search using that postcode and it doesn't match with the address.

I have to say it doesn't sound legit, but the postcode definitely does belong to that address. There are 11 properties with that postcode, numbers 1 - 11 Croft Court. Hope this helps.

I'd recommend signing up to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), which makes this sort of cold calling an offence.

If you get calls from "would you like to upgrade?" type companies the best thing you can tell them is "I just signed for a new contract 2 months ago" (or "What's your dealer code?" and then report them to the relevant network).

Hiya mate,

I'm not far from there, i'll try to drive down tonight or this weekend, and find the place.

The area has recently (very recently) been built up, so the address etc may not match up exactly, but i know the area.

If i find it i'll take a pic of the place (hopefully with signage) to show you if it helps

Questa Financial Services are shown as being based at number 3 Croft Court so I would say the connection is as you say the postcode only. There are also firms shown at number 1 and number 6 (Direct Tyre Management and Biogen Power Ltd respectively) who also probably aren't connected to The Mobile Phone Company.

I know what you mean. I wouldn't suggest for a minute that a load of new companies opening up in the same block at the same time would look suspicious.
