Stopping PPI

Hi all
First time on this part of the forum.....
My sisters OH has PPI on his credit card, he was told that taking it would improve his chance of acceptance, which if I am correct, is a valid misselling claim.
The PPI is still going on the card, my sister has asked him to ring and cancel it so she can start the reclaiming process but he works all hours god sends and never gets round to it.
Is there a template letter to cancel PPI? Would they automatically stop the PPI if you started the dispute process?
Also, she doesn't have the statements, so I had said do a SAR, is this necessary?
Thanks all!

Hello there.;)
Yes I say he has a case here.
There is no actual template as such to cancel, but just write to them by giving the account details, and tell them you want the PPI cancelled immediately as it's no use to you, so you will appreciate if they cancel this now, and you expect this will have been cancelled by the time the next repayment is due.
Keep is simple and post by recorded delivery, you can check the delivery out on the Royal mail website tracking to make sure it's received.;)
However, as its after the cooling period I take it, the repayments may not drop that much, but still if it's worthless there is no point in having this.
An SAR may come in handy to support the complaint.
In the reclaiming side of things, there is no need to write down the figures at this time.
More info here with templates etc, they have 8 weeks in full to respond.

If further help is required in more details, just ask, not a problem and good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Would you recommend asking them to stop the PPI first and then once its been done, hit them with the reclaim, or send off both letters at pretty much the same time?
I've told my sister I will help her out, i'm a bit more clued up on financial stuff than she is but i've never taken PPI on anything before hence not knowing where to start cancelling it!0 -

This would be her choice, some actually request to cancel on the reclaiming letter.
I did with one of mine and that was fine.;)
If she wants to keep it on one letter, she can start by requesting them to cancel the PPI, then come down to the complaint itself, it will save on an extra stamp.
Hope this helps and I'm sure you will do fine with this as well. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Can I ask another quick question?
The letters ask for an account number and the company that sold the insurance, would that be the account number of the credit card account and the credit card provider, or would there be an underwriter who it should be addressed to, and does the PPI have a different 'account' number?
I sound stupid don't I?!0 -

Of course you can ask, ask away and no you don't sound stupid lol

We have all been there.
The account number is shown on the statement/credit card account, that is fine.
You will also find templates on the link here, use them if you want to or as a guide and obviously mention about the cancellation as well as discussed.
